  1. Did you let Halifax do the currency exchange and have THB deposited in your Thai bank or did you send GBP and let the Thai bank do the exchange. Either way there will be other costs over and above the £9.95 fee you mentioned. There will likely be a point where Halifax will be cheaper, but I'm pretty sure it's a lot higher then £2,000.
  2. Bars are open although currently re-titled as restaurants, but no food requires to be bought. Most shut down around midnight but as anywhere, if you know the right places you can drink all night if you want to. No change to hotel guest policies AFAIK, but book your room for two anyway as it shouldn't cost any more (no breakfast). No idea about pool/snooker. All this will likely change by July so keep reading the news between now and your trip.

  4. If it's gone, or if it's any closer, there's one at the very beginning of the walkway before Door 1.
  5. Sorry, can't help with Oz passport requirements. What I relate is from a Brit mate who is a regular traveller between Thailand and Vietnam. I often go with him and rely on him to keep my right but this time I was going to the UK so not 100% clear on exactly what he needed. I'm pretty sure it is as my mate had to change plans to return in < 2 weeks and was cursing he'd paid for the month visa! You need to show exit flight details on arrival for the two week stamp.
  6. How did you find this out? I too have a Redmi Note 10 (5G Model) but I can't see anything about esim for this or the other models, but I could be looking in the wrong place.
  7. More drivel. Sometimes you're better to stop digging when you're already in a big hole of your own making. Do the forum a favour and try it sometime. Thailand Pass website lists all the open crossing points. Psar Phrum appears to be on the Cambodia side across from Chantaburi province where there are two crossings currently open. I've no idea if they are near Psar Phrum though. Places are being added to this list regularly so keep checking if it's an option for you.
  8. 6 months plus in a year could hardly be called typical tourist behaviour. I don't know if it would be allowed in the USA with a tourist visa or equivalent, but certainly wouldn't in the UK. It could be called reasonable if you deem it just a (very) long visit, but could just as easily be said to be unreasonable. It's very subjective IMO and you're at the mercy of Thai Immigration. Get a Tourist Visa to mitigate the risk.
  9. I think it's easier now the consulates are closed. All done on-line and no need to send your passport away or get a full page sticker in it. https://thaievisa.go.th/
  10. They need a negative test to get the Thailand Pass. They will be refused boarding if they don't have the Pass. Nothing to do with being positive.
  11. There are currently no Covid restrictions to getting in to Vietnam. For a UK passport the evisa is available or just turn up with proof of exit within two weeks. A mate has just returned after two weeks there and I'm sure he had a Covid test in Bangkok before departure, and maybe even had to show vax details, but Timatic now says all measures removed from 15th May. https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/world.php
  12. Yes, I wasn't clear enough as thinking more about Wise than the end use. Buying a condo then the money needs to be brought in but not building a house which you won't own anyway. Immigration if using the monthly income method, and as you describe.
  13. For both these purposes you must be able to show that money was brought in from overseas. With SWIFT transfers this was, and is, fairly easy but as companies like Wise moved in on the market it became more problematic. Wise responded to this requirement, and the current method to get it marked appropriately is to select the correct reason when asked (long stay in Thailand, or property purchase, or words to those effects from their pull down list) and transfer to Bangkok Bank (or Kasikorn Bank I think). Doing this will delay the transfer slightly but will ensure that it is marked as an international transfer when arriving in your Thai bank account. Posts proclaiming how quick they got it either don't need or don't understand this requirement or method to achieve it.
  14. Untrue. Unvaccinated passengers will still require a test within 72 hours before travelling even after 1st June.
  15. Also Hua Hin or the airport from Jomtien if they're any good for your final destination?
  16. Perhaps he should just have said he wanted a bus from Chonburi Province to Sa Kaeo Province, but he sensibly narrowed it down to local areas using names they are commonly known by. Why be a pedant and waste everybody's time with your unhelpful response? OP. You may want to try the border run agents rather than the regular minibuses. One operates from the Queen Vic on Pattaya Beach Road Soi 6 and there are others that hopefully someone else can help with.
  17. Easy if you don't want it automatically marked as an International Transfer for Immigration or property purchase requirements.
  18. Did you price it up against doing a one-off SWIFT transfer or even 3 Wise transfers at their max of 2,000,000 THB daily?
  19. Get to Chachoengsao town from the airport. It's in the right direction and you'll have an option of bus or train the next morning.
  20. https://airportpattayabus.com/free-transfer-bus/ Last time I looked it was only a couple each day so this timetable seems to confirm it's almost back to normal.
  21. Add an air fryer, kettle and a microwave for all round coverage. I tend to use a pot on the induction hob for rice although I do have a rice cooker too, but have never had a slow cooker even outside of Thailand.
  22. First indication is that it will have to go some to beat Wise. £1,000 GBP to Thailand examples for both here: Wise. Sendawave. Over 700 baht more with Wise for this example.
  23. The UK has a selection of debit and credit cards with no fees for overseas/foreign currrency use. Used over the counter, with no Thai bank fee, this appears to be among the best ways to get cash in Thailand. Beats Wise to a Thai account cost wise but has the drawback of needing easy access to a friendly branch rather than the 24 hours available ATMs.
  24. Yet the OP still doesn't get it, although if he changed to BBL (or Kasikorn?) it might eventually sink in.
