Swiss man in Phuket acquitted of assaulting doctor
paul1804 replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Its difficult to see if he kicked her intentionally or he slipped, either way he has been acquitted. But his swearing at the 2 ladies is hardly an appropriate way to speak to a stranger, especially a lady. His actions certainly suggest that he an aggressive person so I hope he at the least got reprimanded for that outburst whether he paid hush money or not!!! -
Divorced and severely ripped off, my own fault! I was way to trusting and generous only to be manipulated, lied to and stolen from, and of course now slandered!!! I am sure there are many Thai ladies that make great partners but most Thai's have an extreme love of money that often over rides ethics and morals of the western world, I am quite sure these over sights are known to Thai's but old habits die hard and override what they most likely know will be problematic in a relationship. Its easy to be wise afterwards, set a firm precedent from the start and dont let the situation become available and your relationship will have a greater chance of survival.

Russia, China, Iran, India & Thailand in various ways support the illegally instated Burmese Junta for their own financial gains. The Junta are committing atrocities against the people daily, destroying infrastructure, bridges, schools, hospitals, places of worship and thousands of peoples homes, this is a known fact yet these neighbouring countries & others continue supporting this genocide of the Burmese people. The so called army are currently getting their arses kicked by the rebel armies who are fighting for their lives & some sort of self rule based on a democracy. To add to this the generals and their cronies are stealing the wealth of Burma from the state & the people whether it be properties, business's or recourses and destroying the peoples ability to make a living. Inflation is out of control, the rule of law is whatever suits the Junta on the day and yet the likes of China & Russia being the 2 biggest supporters continue to prop up this atrocity purely for their own means. What has the world come to, why do these leaders have no shame, no ethics or morals?

Thailand Has Global Ambition to Become Tech Talent Hub by 2030
paul1804 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
One could say plenty about just 1 more of Thailands ambitions but being a tech Hub given their antiquated systems which often includes reams of paper work, what planet are they from? -

Visa-free entry for Chinese nationals has many consequences
paul1804 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The previous plan of attracting high spending (quality) tourists was and is the way forward for Thailand if it is serious about being a leading tourist destination whilst maintaining a balance in society, given the current infrastructure hoards of cheap charlies will overload the already stressed infrastructure and slowly drag the standards down to a level where high quality tourists will look elsewhere for spending their $$. I have said it before, you sleep with dogs you get fleas!!! The recent actions of the Thai legal system dissolving the MFP is another huge spike in the Coffin, sadly the current administration doesnt see it being their downfall. -

Thai customer complains about buffet restaurant staff service
paul1804 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
No of course not, it just raises the bar on negative publicity doing that. Its bad enough that a potential ( Eastern European) customer feels she has the right to turn a dozen or so diners evening meal into a nightmare and because we have the right to refuse service given the situation she can damage my potential business image. -
Phuket Overstay Crackdown Nets Seven Foreign Nationals
paul1804 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Reporting in Thailand is often far from being accurate and many institutions like TAT give figures they want to believe which get printed as factual. Unless you had a reliable connection to the person who has the correct information then its often guess work. If you counted all the illegals here which included foreign workers I am quite sure there would be 100,000 in any given year. One would think immigration would have overstayer numbers at their finger tips given it must be computorised! -
Thai customer complains about buffet restaurant staff service
paul1804 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Bad reviews can definitely have a negative impact on business and even when the establishment is the victim of an unreasonable customer Google and Trip advisor will not remove the review. Personality conflicts often influence these reviews and have no real indication of whether the establishment in question is a good prospect or a bad one. I have a restaurant and had a situation where a lady requested a table for herself and a very loudly screaming child, she was politely asked if she could control the Childs behaviour which she replied she could not so she was refused a table, she gave me a terrible review which has no bearing on the quality of my food, service & value for money which is what review's are supposed to indicate. -
Control cannabis use through laws, the law is only enforced in Thailand when there is a financial advantage for those enforcing! They cannot even enforce motor bike riders to wear a Helmut so their chances of controlling the use of cannabis is pie in the sky stuff, when there is a personal financial advantage then things happen in Thailand!

Yes Covid probably was the biggest scam after events like the World Trade centre followed by the Iraq invasion & I suppose the assassination of JFK was pretty up there as well! Remember JFK was not prepared to commit troops to Vietnam, he did roll back the gold standard, he wanted to normalise relationships with Cuba & Russia etc which did not suit the narrative of those around him including his VP.
