Sounds faintly Tibetan, though I believe they mostly put yak butter in their tea.🙂

Thai Police Colonel in Hot Water Over Sales Promotion Scandal
Kwaibill replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
This at least calls his investigative skills into question. -
I use a provincial hospital primarily. My wife has also maintained an accident policy which was a godsend when I fractured my pelvis and later the proximal humerus in my shoulder. The local non-government hospital handled the billing for us. The provincial hospital involves long queues, but the cost savings is considerable. They also have a number of teaching physicians on staff. I had a good experience with my gall bladder removal surgery there. First provincial hospital referred me to another that was better equipped for the job.👍

What has become my standard; a bowl of porridge, one slice of toast, and plenty of Thai hill grown coffee. I vary the porridge up with different combos of whole grains and add ins such as fruit. Lately the toast has been home made toasting bread with a tea spoon of diy peach jam. As a diabetic I am fairly careful about what I eat.

For what it is worth ( probably not much) I have noticed flickers and slight brown outs here in Samut Prakan. I was guessing higher than previous demand on the grid as my Thai wife has been flipping the AC on fairly often, complaining “warm”. Notable as she is normally “ thrifty “ re: the electric bill.

Why are most movies released post-2000 unwatchable?

I totally missed the parts with dwarves, etc. Not key elements? I do find myself less drawn to the fantasy genre these days, though in younger days I was a fan. -

US Retirement system equal to Kazakhstan? Really?

I have been “converted” to regular SS due to my age. I would have to earn quite a lot to have my benefit reduced, now. -
Expats in Thailand urged not to worry about negative income tax

My worry would be that some “enterprising” soul would figure out someway to get all the “ wealthy” falangs to foot the bill. -
US Retirement system equal to Kazakhstan? Really?

I “ retired” because I pretty much worked myself half to death. I just loved the experience of learning new “stuff” all the time, having as many as three jobs at the same time; one full time and usually two part time. Had my first “ cardiac event” in 1996, and by 2000 was adjudicated “disabled, not expected to recover” by the government docs. I kept trying until 2005 to find something I could still do, but on “ bad “ days literally could not stand for more than a couple of minutes. Used up too many resources trying to “ tough it out”. Finally began moving to LOS in 2015, married my Thai FB friend in 2019, and now pretty much happily retired here. My darling is having her Embassy interview today for her US visa/ green card. I am not that excited by the idea, though it would be good to visit some. It is really not possible to communicate just how expensive it is to live there now. I know my one sister complains seriously about how difficult it is and by my standards she and her husband are quite well off. -
I keep getting “ heavy rain” warnings from the Thai meteorology service which here in Samut Prakan seem pretty much to never materialize. There has been enough to not have to water our ornamentals very often, but nothing needing warnings. We have seen footage of local flooding in Bkk, but pretty much avoid the city these days.

More or less the plan. We have a grand child due soon and herself is thinking about getting an initial residency presence and then coming back for a while. I also am thinking in terms of obviating tax residence status here. Sometime here and sometime there. -
An old joke but still good!

Almost entirely a subjective opinion, though I agree with Dinsdale that a black “ Snow White” seems just too counterintuitive. Not having seen it I don’t know how or if they dealt with that inconsistency. I don’t recall any dwarves in “Snow White and the Huntsman” so no problem with that. I wasn’t really watching though, just glanced up as my wife was viewing it. I have to say I’ve enjoyed a number of non-US films. Hollywood does not have a monopoly on decent movies. -
I was tempted to choose “other” as I mostly buy food items but not necessarily “expat” ones.

Sure, everybody else is ignorant, and only you know the truth.😅 -
My wife is quite adept with the make up, though I think she really does not need it so much. Maybe some of her night cream or whatever keeps her skin as a good base. As a guy I have no earthly notion, but she is very pretty in my book.

All I know is that my retirement income is roughly 2X what I was earning on average when I started to plan for retirement, which allows my Thai wife and I to live moderately in Thailand. She wants to go to the U.S. and is willing to work, but not sure how long and what wages she can get. I could possibly work at something PT as a Walmart greeter e.g. Been on SS disability since 2005. I have my doubts that we can make it these days -
Taylor Swift Donates $5 Million to Hurricane Relief Efforts

Versus e.g. Musk who is charging folks in the affected areas $400 for communications access according to some reports. Yeah, I’ll be a 70 year old Swiftie based on her “good works”. Doesn’t hurt that she’s kinda cute, to boot. 🙂 -
Lazada and Shoppee are great for all the reasons given. In addition I am pretty disabled so getting out to brick and mortar stores is often not an option.

I drink perhaps one beer or glass of wine per month. Usually on social occasions. Various health conditions dictate abstemious behavior but not been a problem. I have a few bottles of wine and beer I made myself because I enjoy making stuff. Just had homemade bread with peach/ apple butter for brekkers as another example. At one younger time I was worried I might have an alcohol problem but turned out, “ As a matter of fact, I like beer.” When time came it was no problem at all to switch to soda or plain water.
