My suggestion to the OP is pretty much anything on the market will do what you want, so just look for one that has any quality-of-life improvements that you think you may find useful, such as built in card reader, mouse nipple, or fingerprint login. If there's no special features that you're interested in, then pretty much any mid-range laptop from any known brand will be fine for you.

How do you know that she tried this scam on you? The only scenario I can think of for you to be sure that this scam was if she succeed. In all other potential scenarios that I can see she simply borrowed money from you and always paid you back...

I recently applied for a METV. The official requirement listed on the application was 6 months worth of bank statements showing a minimum balance of 200,000bt. I provided a set of statements showing a final balance of over 200,000bt but that had only been in the account for the previous 3 weeks. Prior to that my account had been fluctuating between about 5000 and 40,000bt, albeit with regular deposits. My application was approved. From this, I guess what my particular consulate wanted to see from the statements were: Do I meet the minimum requirements, and Were there regular deposits coming in each month (ie do I have an income) So, obviously your mileage may vary, but you may be able to get a visa with that plan.

OP Have you checked your passport thoroughly? Including all the "blank" pages? It's not entirety uncommon for immigration officials to skip a couple of pages when stamping a passport.
