  1. It might be difficult for Harris to find an interviewer as fawning as Musk. Trump apparently managed to make at least 20 errors of fact. I don't think Musk seriously challenged him on any of them. More like a bro-fest than an interview.
  2. Typo. Thanks for pointing that out. Actually just start at the 1 minute mark. You won't have long to wait.
  3. From a strategic point, why should she? Why not just let weird Trump beat up on himself? He's demonstrating that he's got quite a gift for that. It shows that there's a bright side to a deteriorating mind.
  4. The thesis of the article is that Harris is playing to her leftist base just as Trump is playing to his MAGA base. But the fact is what issues is Harris stressing that is directed at her leftist base? Actually, what Harris is doing is letting Trump self-destruct. He seems to be utterly unable to control himself. Walz nailed it when he called Trump weird. Trump's shtick is wearing thin. And, as his mind deteriorates, it's only going to get worse for him.
  5. Very odd that the article doesn't mention an obvious reason why Iran is supplying ballistic missiles to Russia Russia said to be delivering advanced air defenses to Iran as Tehran touts ties Iranian officials say Russia has begun delivering advanced air defense and radar equipment to Iran after Tehran asked the Kremlin for the arms, the New York Times reported Monday. While local Iranian media reported that Tehran had requested the equipment, a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and another official confirmed to the Times that not only had the request been made, but that deliveries had started. The development came with the Middle East on edge at the expectation of a direct Iranian attack on Israel as revenge for Israel’s alleged assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31. https://www.timesofisrael.com/russia-said-to-be-delivering-advanced-air-defenses-to-iran-as-tehran-touts-ties/
  6. When he trashed the nuclear agreement with Iran, he left Biden no way of offering positive incentives to Iran.
  7. Trump seems unable to keep himself from engaging in the kind of behavior that's going to alienate women. Go to the 1 minute mark here to here him insult Kamala Harris' looks:
  8. Socialsphere gets a middling rating from fivethirtyeight.com. Out of 277 ranked pollsters it comes in at 131. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/pollster-ratings/ Just for comparison here's the top 10 pollsters according to five thirty eight. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/pollster-ratings/
  9. Me, too. Trump rambles, slurs his way through Elon Musk interview. It was an unmitigated disaster. He was rambling, babbling on about crowd sizes and immigration and President Joe Biden and whatever else seemed to pass through his mind. He was also badly slurring his words, raising questions about his health, and doing nothing to knock down rising concerns about his age and well-being. https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/columnist/2024/08/12/trump-musk-interview-x-twitter-spaces-disaster/74774628007/
  10. This is like Donald Rumsfield all over again re: weapons of mass destruction. "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence."
  11. So apparently you believe that the Constitution gives some sort of exceptional power to a border czar? I think you might want to direct your critiques of someone's intelligence closer to home.
  12. Another way Musk and Trump resemble each other is their willingness to lie at the drop of a hat. Musk blamed the technical foul-up on Iranian hackers. Musk claims there was a DDOS attack on X — but The Verge is told there was not. Eighteen minutes after the conversation was supposed to begin, Musk claimed that X was the target of a “massive DDOS attack” that had made it impossible for the Space to proceed as planned. The rest of X appears to be working normally, however, and a source at the company confirmed to The Verge that there wasn’t actually a denial-of-service attack. Another X staffer said there was a “99 percent” chance Musk was lying about an attack. https://www.theverge.com/2024/8/12/24219121/donald-trump-elon-musk-interview-x-twitter-crashes
  13. Trust a New York Post report, from which this article was based on, to turn that dumpster fire of an interview into a beacon of light. And trust Phillip Bump from another Post, to point exactly why this Bro-Fest has its limitations "Over the course of the conversation, there were countless misrepresentations and dishonesties, the background noise of the Trumpian rhetorical space. But this — and the sort of hagiographic self-policing engaged in by people like Gutfeld — is why Trump both has a consistent base of support and why it never seems to get any bigger... This is why the “weird” disparagement has gotten traction: To those outside the bubble, the verbiage and focal points and self-aggrandizement and victimhood are hard to understand." https://archive.ph/CzFTe
  14. In a way, Trump and Musk have a lot in common. Both are doing their darndest to take down a business of theirs and to hell with their investors. In Trump's case, Truth Social, and in Musk's case, Tesla.
  15. It kind of already is: https://www.tucsonaz.gov/Departments/Parks-and-Recreation/Classes-and-Programs/Senior-Programs/Senior-Olympic-Festival/Cribbage
  16. His comment was about three guys who were willing to commit mass murder. That they would fit in. Are there lots of mass murderers attending Harvard?
  17. When I read comments like yours I can't help but think of the vomiting scene in The Exorcist. Such a repugnant eruption.
  18. As much as Cryingdick's comment about Harvard has to do with it. Which is what I was replying to and the point of my comment. I guess his comment either escaped your notice or maybe you believe it was relevant?
  19. Apparently, predictions are valid evidence according to your way of thinking.
  20. I don't see why that's the big one. Stock markets are forward looking. The producer price index gives an indication of how much consumer prices will rise. Maybe in popular reporting it's paid more attention to, but for investors and economists the PPI seems to be more important.
  21. Donald Trump had his lengthy conversation with Elon Musk on X on Monday, and one thing that could not be missed through it all was the former president’s slurred speech. Trump often sounded as though he was speaking with a heavy lisp or slurring his words, and that had social media stirring. https://www.pennlive.com/news/2024/08/donald-trumps-speech-during-musk-interview-sparks-health-concerns.html Trump rambles, slurs his way through Elon Musk interview. It was an unmitigated disaster. https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/columnist/2024/08/12/trump-musk-interview-x-twitter-spaces-disaster/74774628007/ Maybe they'll convince Trump to step down and be replaced by his V.P. candidate? Well, I can dream, can't I?
  22. Good News! The first of those numbers is in Dow rallies more than 350 points as tame inflation data fuels market comeback The Dow Jones Industrial Average rallied Tuesday, as equities moving closer to last month’s record levels following the first of two key U.S. inflation reports this week... The producer price index — a measure of wholesale prices — increased 0.1% last month. Economists expected the reading to show a monthly gain of 0.2% in July, in line with the previous month’s reading, according to Dow Jones consensus estimates. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/08/12/stock-market-today-live-updates.html Last time I checked it was up around 400 points. It seem unlikely that inflation will be show to be running hot. And the decline in the PPI is especially good news since it's more predictive of future inflation levels.
  23. Great post! My only quibble is that the first video doesn't use the original music but for some reason dubs the video with music that clearly doesn't belong. Here's a video with the original music. The proto break dancer in question makes his appearance at about 1:42
  24. Apparently, you endorse the belief that in the USA VP has some sort of superpower that allows her to create and enact laws. Not even the President can do that.
  25. Bad Temu. It's a pity Amazon isn't available in Thailand...oh wait a minute... Should Amazon Be Responsible for Everything It Sells and Ships? A U.S. Agency Will Soon Decide The consumer safety agency began investigating Amazon in 2019 after a series of articles in The Wall Street Journal chronicled how Amazon’s marketplace side of its retail operations had sellers distributing dangerous and mislabeled products, such as children’s toys lacking proper choking-hazard warnings, motorcycle helmets that failed federal safety tests and children’s toys that contained lead levels exceeding federal limits. https://archive.ph/9EyVr https://www.wsj.com/business/retail/amazon-could-soon-be-on-hook-for-safety-of-third-party-products-it-sells-and-ships-be58b697
