You sure it's covid, and not dengue, or just a different flu infection. Keep testing, you get positive sooner or later

Additional safety gear is personal choice. Drove MC for 40+ years, and never any protective clothing. Shorts & light shirt when weather allowed. Only time covered up was in colder weather. I would have preferred to see a vid of his irresponsible operating of his 'unicycle', instead of opinions. If he's a skilled rider, doing close to speed limit, not really seeing an issue, though still technically illegal. If having an oops, chances are, the damage will be done to him, as not much of a machine to do any damage, unless it goes airborne. Shirtless is the part I commented on, since most comments about that, and all a bit silly. Wear a shirt, don't wear a shirt on a vacation island, and kind of up to you. But put one on, if entering a proper restaurant, business. Would guess there is one in his backpack. People need to get a life, and stay out of others. I see plenty of shirtless Thais here, and far away from the surf. Remember seeing a topless young gal, breastfeeding her wee one, while I was out riding in the countryside of Udon Thani. That was a surprise, and after thinking about it, seemed appropriate, as it was hot, damn hot. She was sitting on a rattan bench, roadside, assuming in front of her house. In the USA, some Karon would freak out, and she'd get fined, but it seemed so natural here. Young little cutie also, and that's the part that surprised me. Another time, drive down the long dirt drive to my 1st Thai MIL house, and she was strolling around topless. Other family members around. Wasn't really that long ago, when women went topless here. Damn Christian warriors ...

A lot of the journey is 4 lanes. Not familiar with the last leg (2097), although only a few more kms/mins to got to hwy #2, then north. 2097 is probably more scenic. State below, 210 & 2 is a bit boring, unless overnight in UT, which has nice vendors around Nong Prajak Park area, and a huge night market near train station, every night. Chiang Khan is a nice riverside town, especially weekends, as having a large walking street market through town. Need to book in advance, as a favorite with Thais. Then you could follow along the river to NK from there. That's a pleasant drive. It really is a nice drive cutting through Loei. Loei over to Udon Thani (#210) is a bit unspectacular. Same with UT to NK. Hence the turn north at Loei to Chiang Khan.

@giddyup I use the brand, (photo below), when eating starchy carbs (rare), and needed. So much for 'healthy' advice of eating more fiber. Actually fibrous carbs (green leafy veggies / ruffage), and aspargus & broccoli, etc, is good, just not starchy carbs; grains/flour/bread, potatoes, pasta. Starchy carbs might slow sugar & insulin spikes, but too much fiber that doesn't get digested, and fills/clogs things up. With that, if eat a lot of oats, may want to ease up on them, as suck up a lot of moisture in you digestive tract. Helped when I stopped eating oats in my morning cereal. Or drink a couple more liters of water during the day Get to P, 20 times a day instead of 10. Wouldn't be surprised if same people make this, and the brand you use, as ingredients are almost identical, and the only 'laxative' that works for me. All rest suck, and not in a good way. If a change in diet diet doesn't work, maybe just drink 1/2 a pack (9gr vs 18gr), on a more regular basis, and try that for a while. See if it eases things up enough, without overkill. I think the Psyllium husk powder, is the ingredient doing all the work. Which I've actually though about searching for that, when I run out of my stash of ...

If you want to drive the extra hour ... not sure how that's better. #12 is also a nice scenic route, though haven't driven that in many years. Have you driven either route before ? I've driven the shorter route, more than a few times. Most recently, June of this year. Is this a get there ASAP trip, or you going to play tourist along the way ?

Thailand plans 14 new floating solar farms to boost renewable energy
KhunLA replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
No surprise of the ignorance and Thai bashing from members. Pretty sad really. -
Don't know about illegal chems in Thai brand ... have any evidence of that ? source For oils, I suggest 'Naturel' brand, out of Singapore and been at it for quite some time, a quality company with high quality oils. I use their Canola oil, and high quality, reviewed. ... Naturel Canola No trans fat, high smoke point (400F), stable at ambient temp. @spidermike007 Rice bran vs Canola ... more saturated, less monosaturated Both not having trans fat 👍 Canola ... High in monosaturated fat (low saturated) ... from earlier posted chart

And yet ... studies that I posted contradict, the unhealthy idea, and seed oils are not as unhealthy as people think. Actually healthier than what other people consider are healthy oils, such as olive oil.

This is interesting, and surprising (Beef Tallow) More at ... link EDIT: corrected, as 902 is for 100gr (see below) Seems the site makes that error a few times source

Storm warning: Thailand’s weather is about to rain on your parade
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yep .... PKK, rained all night into early morning. Definitely the longest rainy season ever. Love it myself, as long as the start of rainy season doesn't shift with it. Rains late April, early May ... PLEASE Not June, as March & April are brutally hot, and don't need to wait any longer for the rains to arrive -
I have free access to Netflix, but agree, I've yet to see anything of interest, that I can't download elsewhere. Gives the added plus of pausing, rewinding if wanting.

Best time of day for jomtien immigration?
KhunLA replied to pomchop's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Don't know about Jomtein, but I always avoid Monday & Friday, along with mornings. I prefer after their noon-ish break, when back to full staff again. It's a roll of the dice. -
I don't think anyone uses, eats oils for nutritional value, unless cold or first press, which is my choice with EVOO, Coconut & Peanut oils. More refined, more heat, and you lose most nutrients. Why I use Beef & Pork Tallow, along with butter, aside from the flavor added. Oil used mostly for even heating and insulating lubricant from burning, whether frying or roasting. Helps the seasoning stick also.

What is an Intensive English Programme?
KhunLA replied to MartinL's topic in Primary & Secondary Education
Instead of all that time back & forth, aside from the extra expense with no results, try spending the money locally at an English 'tutoring' program, after school. They had more than a few of those in the Udon Thani area, some OK, some useless, especially if the wee one, has no desire and doesn't apply himself. Probably some online tutoring programs, but again, student really does have to apply himself. Maybe pick a hobby for him, where everything is in English. Some type of orbit Raspberry Pi and Arduino circuit board kit would be my choice. Once building something, and seeing it work, will perk his interest. Could turn into a career 👍 I really got into building drones, and more fun than operating them actually. Building sh!t if fun, and no dangerous power tools needed. -
New Zealand PM Apologises for Decades of Abuse in Care Homes
KhunLA replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I'll never get my head around people apologizing for things, they had no part in. Especially the silliness of apologizing for things that happened generations ago, to people long gone. Apologizing to people who are generation away from what ever the apology is for. It's a shame your grandparents may have had a crappy life imposed on them ... get over it. My great great great etc grandparents escape oppressive Europe a few hundred years ago. I got over it. Every nationality that followed, had a hard start in the USA. All my white brethren, I got over that also. I got over all the black folks, selling all the black folks to white folks centuries ago. NZ, OZ, USA, Africa ... it's history .. get over it, move on. Apologies from people not involved to people not involved is all a bit silly. -
Many oils get a bad rap, some deserved, some not. Seed oils for one, along with high saturated fat oils. Just because you hear it said, doesn't mean it's true. "Olive oil is good for you" as an example. Better than many, probably, healthier than all seeds, questionable, and the 'science' doesn't agree. I've returned to using Canola oil again, for some frying. Depends what I'm cooking. Add butter to most times, for flavor, as too lazy to make Ghee. Use peanut oil for deep frying, (low temp & change frequently) though will probably change to Canola when that runs out. Use EVOO, but sparingly. Only use Coconut oil to make my chocolate. Seed oil is a problems, as added to processed foods, especially if the 'hydrogenated' version. Simple solution, don't eat that crap. Some of the uncommon common sense most people don't have. Use Beef & Pork Tallow for cooking same meats, depending on the preparation, and sometimes no oils, using the fat in the meat itself. If lean, then will need tallow, or Canola & butter for Chicken breast, if frying. Don't fear saturated fats, but use sparingly. Get plenty for animal fats, in my diet, along with Omega 3, to counter excess O-6. This is why I'm moving away from high saturated fat oils (@ 11:40) ... This vid specifically testing liver health with Canola. Also mentioned in vid is Olive oil, with same results. Canola being better on the liver and cholesterol. Types of fat in your oils ...

What is an Intensive English Programme?
KhunLA replied to MartinL's topic in Primary & Secondary Education
@MartinL It seems you are wasting your money, and valuable time away from you son (assume boarding there) if English is the priority sending there. Why do you not simply teach him at home. Knowing English is a priority for a better job, hopefully, English was the only language allowed at home, for me, wife & daughter. She was fluent in no time at all, and even won English competitions for the school she attended in Udon Thani (St Mary's & Don Bosco). Don Bosco being the better of the 2, All movies at home, from animated to dramas, to love stories were all in English. The Thai English teachers were not good, and the non Yank English teachers, I even had a hard time understanding. She got her Thai language at school, no need to speak it at home, she got here Esan language at Grandparents & local village kids. Fluent in 3 languages/dialect before the age of 7 or 8. If son applies himself, he'll have his pick of Uni when ready, as she did, and had her pick of a few jobs that she wanted. Her English being a major plus for her career, online marketing/E commerce. -
Shirtless on a holiday island ... the nerve of some people Not everyone is fat & ugly, and ashamed of their physical appearance. I even saw a local Thai gent without a shirt on in the village the other day. I almost puked

Most do, and apps will have that info. Don't think I'd make a special trip to a mall, to charge. Only if there already, and it certainly wouldn't be a Central Mall, unless extreme off hours.
