  1. "honey ... I'm taking your Celerio down to the pub, and hang with the lads"
  2. To the title ... NO I've gotten by without being fluent. Of course you won't be engaging in any conversations with a local, but easy enough to get by. Along with knowing the numbers, some phases you may want to learn: How much ? ... helps not being overcharged, as may think you've been here for quite some time. I want / would like ... instead of simply pointing and saying how much .. again, helps not being over charged. Where's the toilet ? ... obvious Not spicy (no chili, salt or sugar), may help you food enjoyment ... I actually travel with Cayenne pepper and prefer to spice it myself. I have already ... whether you do or don't, avoid long conversation w/hawkers Take away / return home or eat here
  3. Whoa ... 91 @ ฿38.73 locally ... yikes. Remember when it was 1/3 that price, along with 15% more, as a high price. ฿2 baht since one month ago. My savings with the EVs just keep on growing
  4. Also from TH imm site: ... "If a foreigner staying in the kingdom over 90 days without notifying residence to immigration officer or notifying later than the set period, must notify in person and a fine of 2,000.- THB will be collected. If a foreigner who did not make the notification of staying over 90 days is arrested, he/her will be fined 5,000.- THB with an additional fine not exceeding 200.- THB for each day which passes until the law is complied with." PPrevious post was from G search and one of first that popped up, Definitely starts @ 2000, as got the little slip when reporting late by mail, hoping to avoid, but was returned with 2000 baht fine slip, and informed to report in person ASAP. When extending visa, shortly after, the Imm officer, simply set it aside, with smile on her face, and didn't fine me. THANK YOU very much
  5. As long as it's entertaining, wokeness doesn't bother me that much any more, maybe more so, because it's unavoidable. If not going to watch, you won't be watching much at all. But any period or historical piece, should try to be semi realistic. What next, an Asian Jesus, a black Abraham Lincoln. They've already had some ridiculous changes in some movies of real people. Pretty sure Anne Boleyn is misrepresented here. I'm waiting for the biography of Queen Elizabeth, as a Black bisexual
  6. If anything, I always found holiday traffic, lite and easy to negotiate, as long as not on the inter province roads when all actually going somewhere. At 0900 hrs, it should be very lite, and most still hung over and snoozing, if the partying type. No work or school traffic ... BLISS
  7. Just because they receive doesn't mean they support any party, politician. I think most accept money from politicians here before voting, but doesn't mean they will vote for them. Free money is hard to turn down, especially when no real strings attached. I got checks from Trump & Biden administration policies, and didn't and wouldn't vote for either, and any politician. Which reality is moot, as means I wouldn't vote against them either I think I will benefit from the program, as we use less than 300 units a month, if and when we use any. Getting those tax ฿฿฿ back, exciting, what to buy next
  8. And usually free delivery ... unless you own a truck, then no prob.
  9. That's funny, and I think most people addicted to yaba, prefer the addiction level compared to cigarettes. Number one problem with druggies, they do commit crimes to finance their habit. Do try to live in the real world once in a while
  10. You haven't been there in over 30 yrs, how do you know you'd still love USA. If I returned, I'd have one gun at least, as I just like 'em. In Asia, you never need a gun (?) .... until you do, just like anywhere worldwide. Stop watching & listening to MSM BS, crime and murders (with few exceptions) have decreased almost every year. And the idiot in the vid would be prosecuted, as shooting through a door, negates any immanent danger of life. Need to wait till the door is opened.
  11. Wouldn't your insurance pay off any mortgage ? If you paid cash, then I don't think you'd care, if having that much money. Rent is wasted money, if owning, the kids can inherit upon one's passing. Or better, put in their name, and not inheritance tax, if applicable. This is not the TH forum but 'home country' forum.
  12. More like, now you can actually taste food, and enjoy eating. I was told, once people quit smoking, many men become gay for the same reason. Although smoking, after you get cancer, will definitely help you lose weight
  13. If a signatory to the account then no problem, just transfer the funds before reporting you died. Doubt if anyone is going to care. Funerals / bbq cost as much as you want to spend. No need for a party.
  14. Oh I'm pretty sure she uses electric, even batteries. "Hey Greta, want to have sex" "HOW DARE YOU" ... now where'd I put my vibrator ? She probably has one of these, for product endorsement
  15. Home grown is the way to go, with everything it seems. Self sufficiency, and control what goes into your body. TRUST NOBODY, especially corporations that care about nothing except the bottom line. Better stop burning and using that fossil fuel/diesel then, as cadmium is released. Just another reason to go solar & drive BEVs. Careful what you eat, and where it comes from. You like them imported fruits & veggies from CH, who energizes with coal. What goes up, must come down, and into the soil ... YUMMY
  16. Why is that ? Anyone, family, that uses <300 units a month, needs as much assistance as they can get. Means they're probably not using ACs, as they simply can't afford them. It's really hard, next to impossible for us not to 300 units a month. Even when we had the solar installed, and we were being as conservative as we could be, to see how little we could use, we never were <300 units. That was not using the ACs at all, late Aug (?) & Sept (380 units), as we didn't need to, since rainy season and nice overcast skies. A couple days, the ESS/back up batteries barely recharged to 100% before night fall. We use about 4 units a day, when we're O&A, so near 120 units a month, just keeping the frigs running.
  17. OK, so no experience, from anyone, or even hearsay, just so old photos. Did they even have dates. And Lotus's (Tesco Lotus) was there probably at least 15 yrs ago, as don't remember ever not being there, although still as crappy as it is today, though building expanded, I think. 2011 photo of Tesco Lotus, and Makro was new 2017, as was Global & 2015 for HomePro: 2006, and wat wasn't refurbished yet, as I had to climb over a lock fencing at the top of the stairs, and obviously abandoned for years. Seawall getting a revamping. 2023, and as state, not much has changed, 2 new large (visible) hotels, And seawall revamped of course. Most land used in 2006, as it is now. 2 hotels & Amazon Cafe. Been stopping and visiting PKK municipality for over 20 yrs, 4 times a year, at least, as a destination, or pitstop on the way to points southward. Was at Bang Saphan Noi, about 2002, and not much there. One guesthouse between train stop (hard to call it a station), no taxi/tuk tuk, and we started walking toward the surf. Someone came by and gave us a hop to the guesthouse. Rented a scooter at the guesthouse. At surf, there was 1 maybe 2 guesthouses, (1 new, not open). Only saving grace was and excellently little seafood vendor surfside that cranked out some great crab & shrimp dishes. Didn't bother with the surf, sand course and water not clear.
  18. I agree, it's a real sh!t hole and people should avoid. We only live there, because we inherited a house and can't afford to live anywhere else. In the south, hot as hell, 100 kms from Immigration office. Ao Prachuap, bay that fronts town is polluted. Can't swim in it. No nightlife, no P4P ladies to entertain ... must self entertain. Get that kite flying up there No 4 or 5 star anything, unless it's 5 Star chicken you're after. PKK one of the driest provinces, and Hua Hin now rationing / restricting water use ...
  19. MG uses 2 type plugs, one for home & slow charging, and one for fast charging. From 'Charge Loma' app, shows the 2 plugs & CS of the 4 vendors, that we prefer using. Preference being: EV Station Pluz, since at PTT Parks, and plenty to keep you occupied while charging PEA & MG ... toss up, more PEA CS, but MG has comfy lounge to sit in. Elexa ... not a whole lot of them, but some associated with nice coffee shop and or restaurants. CS chit chat thread ... here ... App icons, not to be confused with others when downloading: Each vendor has their own app, for up to date info. I use 'Charge Loma' for quick peeks as needed, as shows all that I filter;
  20. USA went the other way, and reward buying big polluters. 2721 kg or more, nice tax write off. That's why all the big SUVs, 4X4, and everything is on a 'truck' frame, as they aren't cars, they're trucks, and get a huge tax write off for the owners, businesses, manufacturers. Anything to keep Big Oil's profits flowing. Al while pushing GO GREEN
