  1. I believe in the science, I'm just not buying the fear mongering or going to panic, at the very very slow rate of temp & seas rising. As if there is anything I can do to prevent it, more than I've already done. Feel free to join me, and lower your 'footprint', then you can actually talk to me, about how much you care, and what you're doing.
  2. A lot more than one hot day. There's been hotter peaks in the past, in between Ice ages. We're not even matching those yet. 1C in 100 yrs .... I'm not going to panic. 3.3 mm rise in oceans a years, per NASA, I'm not panicking. So in 7,573.8 years, I'll be beach front ... and I'm < 4 kms away from the surf. And the surf has been so low the past 2 weeks, I can walk to the islands in the bay. And we're suppose to believe the flooding of Samut Prakan on another thread is from the sea water. Maybe if it was Sept or Oct, but not July. Feel free to live in fear...I'll do my own thinking thank you. Like I said, I can walk across the bay now, to the islands If man hasn't self destructed, in next 1 or 200yrs, you'll have a whole 1 or 2C of temp, wow, 41 instead of 39, and seas up over half meter. Now that will be interesting, the seas, although our house still won't be ocean front. A half a meter, might be enough to breach at high tide ... And in 200 years, at 3.3mm a year, that's 660mm/66cm, I think we're still safe. Looking like we still have at least a meter of seawall ... no worries.
  3. After you hear it enough times, they are expecting you to start believing it. Sort of like 'radio play', that song you hate, from the artist you hate, that they use to play 3 times a day. 3 to 6 months down the road, and you're humming the damn thing. Embarrassing ...
  4. So you approached and spoke to a guy without a mask, when you believe 'covid could kill you' ... hmm
  5. Almost bought one of those a few times. Let us know how practical it is to use. Just bought a small pipe, and a few reviews said draw was a bit hard ... and they were correct. Only cost 109 baht. Think I'll try to drill a small hole to improve it. Nice 1 hit pipe, but that's about it, though all I wanted, if lazy to twist one. Pic from promo:
  6. Porn ... read & watched my share, I guess, as a youngin'. Short lived as found it boring. Now ... Really can't think of anything more boring than reading or watching porn.
  7. Sums it up for me. I only wear in 7-11 & Makro, with nose uncovered, as don't think you can enter the stores without. Or rare occasion of visiting another chain vendor; Global, HomePro.
  8. Shouldn't be, as long as you read the 'not so fine print'. I used up all mine 'TG/UA' via a free UA domestic flight, and a stay at Sheraton (bkk grand suk), and lovely it was. Strange, with the hotel stay, I had to pay the tax + SC, which was shy of 700 baht, which at the time, was what I was spending for basic hotels anyway. Very nice upgrade though. Use them or lose 'em.
  9. Not if you plan wisely ... ???? Adapt & Adjust if things are changing along the way. Don't wait till it happens.
  10. I've posted this before, and this is actual stats of retirement checks dispersed at age 65, from IAM union, NWA ramp/ese/esc job classification. Average # of check - 18. In my job classification - 11. That's why retirement plans are under funded, as they know they'll never need it. USA Soc Sec has increased the age of retirement, and now 67, born after 1960, I think. Thinking about raising it again. I passed my IAM union life expectancy about 19 months ago. Been an official LPOS FOR 22 yrs. Working till 65 ... HELL NO ????
  11. More like freakin' amazing. I've tried killing myself more than a few times, luckily failed miserably. Never thought I'd make it past 30, let alone 40-50-60. “If I had known I was going to live so long, I’d have taken better care of myself.” - Billy Noonan I don't exercise too strenuously, as I figure my heart is good for so many beats ... so I don't want to use them up any faster ... ????
  12. I modified mine, from ugly, old, moldy, dry rotting bags, to less ugly, plastic enclosure. Still gets airflow though, and batteries now out of the sun. Mine will do 40 kph, but I keep it around 25 kph, so not to draw attention to myself, though hard not to now ???? Plus brakes & suspension aren't made for higher speeds.
  13. 2 wheels & motor = motorcycle. Don't think anyone cares if it's electric or not. I see a lot of folks & vendors state, if not more than 250w motor, it doesn't need to be registered, but yet to see that in print anywhere. My e-bicycle (1000w) is technically a motorcycle. 250w motor rule or not, it's a motorized 2 wheel vehicle. http://thailaws.com/law/t_laws/tlaw0140_5.pdf
  14. No green book, no plate, no yearly tax ... they'll think of something. Technically, whether insured or not, it's still not registered, which is required.
  15. If you confess, 8 yr sentence seems to be the norm here, no matter how brutal or intentional the murder was.
  16. Most are 'city coco ' or version of. 'Made in China' listings have various models. They even have a EU & US warehouse, supposedly. They must all come out of same factory or cloned, being so similar. When looking at the distributor business specs, you get anywhere from being in business from 2yrs to 6 or 7 yrs. Prices and specs vary a bit on different models.
  17. As I stated, same in Muang PKK, and enforcement almost non existent. An occasional check point, less than once a month of late. Don't think the same could be said for Hua Hin PKK. Local forum mentions frequent check points all over the area.
  18. That's the main reason we didn't get the ZS model with the sunroof, as much as we wanted the red or blue color. Also not a fan of option, especially electric ones, as simply one more thing to fail. Most complaints of cars, are the options failing, and not the drivetrains. We don't use the options in the ZS (ICE) now, let alone need more we won't use or want. I didn't even bother downloading the iSmart app. I'm not a big fan of tinted windows, any tint. Haven't yet tinted any car's windows. Saying that, the black surface of the Vios & Mazda2 did heat up, and hold it for longer than wanting. A good 5 minutes. The MG ZS seems to cool off very fast, about 1 minute, so find the tint really isn't needed. Always crack the window a tad, if parked in the sun, so heat doesn't build up to the max. Surprised how fast it cools down.
  19. We were simply told, within 6 months ... or ... you can cancel and not lose deposit, which was only 5k baht anyway. Read that page, and some are offered cancelled cars, but possibly not in the color they ordered. Have no desire for a white or black car, and silver is the only other option. Black, definitely NO, white ... maybe, need to see one up close, but means actually have to wash it every now & then ???? Red (have now) & blue, you can get away with less washing. But not available in our model ordered, sadly. Really like the red, blue also. Not the biggest fan of silver but warming up to it. https://www.mgcars.com/th/mg-models/new-mg-zs-ev/design
  20. Hey ... slow down, let's not rush things. I'll hit 68 at the end of this year, and just hoping I make it to life expectancy when born. Parents only made it 69 & 74 (mother), drinkers & smokers. So I should do a bit better. Seems to be a lot of guessing after 2007, especially if born recently ... 80's So if making it to 65, we could be good for another 13 yrs, if reading correctly. https://www.ssa.gov/oact/TR/2011/lr5a4.html
  21. 3000 reservations, but nothing states they were EVs, and highly doubtful they were. News-blips that points that out: "Traditional gas-powered vehicles had the lion’s share of the sales, while electric cars, or EVS, stole the spotlight among car enthusiasts. EV bookings grew by 10% to more than 2,000 vehicles, with SAIC Motor and MG registering the most orders, followed by Great Wall Motor, or GWM. A total of 1,500 sales were made between MG and GWM." https://thethaiger.com/news/national/boost-in-car-sales-enthusiasm-for-evs-mark-bangkoks-annual-motor-show "The present’s hottest EV fashions had been GWM’s Ora Good Cat, and MG’s MG EP and MG ZS EV, which racked up 1,520 orders collectively" https://southeastasiantraveler.com/2022/04/06/boost-in-car-sales-enthusiasm-for-evs-bangkoks-annual-motor-show-video/
  22. Lack of registration kept me from buying one. Though not sure I really need to worry where I am, but one less thing to worry about is a good thing. That one looks to be an older model, with small front tire.
  23. Not necessarily. Could simply be, makers of aren't making until ordered. Actually good business sense, considering most, if not all are coming from overseas. That and the economy, many skeptical or ignorant of the practicality of owning (forum shows that). Availability to charge at home, or even the need for a new car, after 2 years of stagnant economic growth. More than a few, waiting to see what's around the corner, and waiting for newer tech & batteries to hit mass production. Except for maybe BMW & Porsche, all the batteries are coming from China, so simple supply & demand, as they can only churn them out so fast for the world market.
  24. Yea, that's a bit of a question mark. Now and next 5 ish years, should be fine. As every new bug will be causing hysteria. They'll probably reinstated mask wearing soon, and tourist will go elsewhere next high season. Only other place I can think of, is Trang, being developed enough to check off most of the boxes, though not sure about hospitals. Although if living just west of the ring rd., you're still 30 kms from the sea. To me living surfside, means you can walk or cycle to it. Any decent beach area is going to be overly touristy, and that's relative. Patong, Karon & Kata are the main touristy beaches, which still leaves 10 good ones left to visit or live by. You didn't state your transport options, so Phuket was only one I thought of that has nice beaches and some public transport around the island & hospitals.
  25. Phuket, plenty of beach areas to choose from. One of the only places with decent beaches & hospitals. Those 2, definitely limit your choices. The Gulf is not for anyone that actually wants nice beaches. Rest of the Andaman Sea side isn't developed enough.
