  1. @KannikaP This is my usual morning (long) cruise in the EV. Dog and myself to the park, (short), and if cruising by surf also, the long cruise. 11.7 is the amount of kwh to go 100 kms, as calculated, used be the car. 46.3 usable battery ÷ 11.7 = 3.957 X 100 = 395+kms per charge So when I state 360 kms, that's mix local driving. If short cruise, then average 60 kph, as most of the drive is 4 lane road. If long, then short accounts for 8 kms, and the other half is probably 25-40 kph. We consistently exceed the WLTP range rating of 320 kms per charge. We'll get 320 kms at highway speeds / 90kph. I save too much sh!t ... here's one even better, and even beats the NEDC rating of 403 kms per charge ...
  2. It cost us ~฿0.5 per kms when charging using PEA. 360 kms @ ฿185.2 (46.3 kwh X ฿4)
  3. I did the #s for BEV vs ICE, using cars we owned/own. MG ZS ICE got 14 kpl MG ZS EV gets 360 kms local driving using 46.3kWh. We have solar, but when I do charge, using PEA, it's ~฿4 kWh I used ฿36 or ฿38 for petrol (91) price per L 360 kms ÷ 14 = 25.71 L X ฿38 = ฿977 360 kms - PEA = ฿185 (46.3 x 4) Actually used ฿5 in previous calculations, as most folks probably pay more the ฿4. But being the wall charger is the only thing on the grid, we rare use much electric, charging with solar mostly. In 2 years, we used 854 kWh of PEA. Approx 240 kWh is for the house ? (unexplained) the rest 614 have probably gone to the EV.
  4. Actually I did, via savings ... Petrol ฿54k a year Solar -0- PEA/MEA ... 'savings ฿42k a year' = PEA/MEA cost ฿12k a year (54-42=12) Safety issue ... imaginary. Especially now, as LFP safer & last longer Here's a chart for life span of battery, and many consider these numbers very conservative. Some have quoted up to 10k cycles, but we'll stick with 2500, and go even more negative, just 50% of that, is knocking on 500k kms for our MG ZS. Read the not so small fine print, the battery isn't DEAD, just @ 80% capacity. Work the #s, and you'll be at the BEV dealer before you know it. Aside from savings, actually irrelevant for most of us. But the performance, you'll definitely appreciate that, and makes driving fun again.
  5. Agree, and myself, never saw the practicality for a hybrid. A bit redundant & expensive all the way around. Damn silly IMHO, unless racking up a lot of highway kms, and time is money. In which case, just stick with an ICE, Maybe get a NETA V for knocking around town, for wife or husband's needs.
  6. Ooops ... sit corrected, and correct answer below. Had DC on the brain. Cars will accept 22kW, as it's just the cable delivering, and charger is actually in the car. Just most houses (1 phase) or the granny / emergency cables they give you, won't provice 22kW. Here's a chart what the MG ZS will accept and in red is what we have at the house ... As you can see, DC fast charging cable is considered anything 50kW or up, but for our car, anything above 76kW is irrelevant, as it will only accept 76kW. Actually more than fast enough for us. Only takes 30-40 minutes to go from 30% to 95%, and we usually leave somewhere between 90-100%, depending if ready or someone waiting. The last 5% can take 15-20 minutes by itself, and not worth waiting for if we're done doing whatever.
  7. And MG just extended their 8 yr / 180k kms battery warranty to lifetime on 4 selected BEV models. Doesn't get much better than that. ICEV ...
  8. I had a petition going for me to be part of Mt Rushmore, days past. It failed ...
  9. Most aren't lithium batteries. Thought crossed my mind a few times, as the one, iMio was something like 259k for top 'SUV' model If the Wuling had the govt incentive before we bought the ZS, I probably would have bought that instead of the BEV version of the ZS, as we loved our ICE version. But with the better spec'd NETA V, it's well worth the extra 50-75k for that over the Wuling AIR, the only mini I would consider.
  10. Agree, and our car is an expensive convenience, relative of course, actual cost per month, just to sit in the carport. If we had to pay for petrol, and was on a budget, I doubt if we'd drive more than a few 1000 kms a year. Drive about 5k kms a year, around town, and most of that is unnecessary, and just the dog taking me for my morning walk at the park or surf, which can be done, right down our soi. 8-15 kms a day, just to get our Vit D, and drop a landmine somewhere
  11. If my back was a bit more flexible, and less highway driving, I'd get a NETA V, they're 429k now, or 409k if you can find old stock from CH. If NETA V wasn't so cheap, could even get a Wuling AIR, 375K I think, but lower spec'd and for a few baht more, step up to the NETA. Transportation just doesn't get much cheaper, unless going the scooter route, which we went with E-MC for that. Even cheaper and a pleasure to drive.
  12. Nah, talking DC slow charging cables, and more than enough when at a hotel, and not going anywhere. Lots of malls & hotels have them already.
  13. By then he would have saved 336k by not buying petrol (@ 14 kpL using 91), as what we'd save if driving 20k kms locally and using PEA/MEA to charge at home. Along with 15 oil changes & 3 or 4 total tune ups. Along with the extra 100k buy in cost for the Vigo.
  14. Just think if this was early 2020, they'd shut down the Olympics completely with the silly hysteria back then. 2024, and nobody is falling for it any more, well, except 1 person ...
  15. Do you need any more evidence it's simply a proxy war for profits ? First paragraph says it all. "You're not allowed to try to win, just keep dying"
  16. True, but I don't think the rest of the CS network is going to catch up or pass the 75kW mark on charging cables anytime soon. Once the freebies disappear, so will the Qs. Faster good for the 'on the road' working stiff, or single occupant long drives. But we can't P, walk the dog, and have a munch that quick 100+ when a lot more BEVs on the road, will be quite handy, as the car to CS ratio changes. That's a few years away though, till needed. As most of the weekender traffic, away from Krung Thep, isn't that far away. Khao Yai, Patts, Hua Hin, Kanchanaburi. I think hotels incorporating more charging cables, even 22kW would be a lot more beneficial to BEV owners. Imaging 5 or 10 of those at most hotels, that would be sweet. Convenient and extra revenue stream for hotels/
  17. How is being gay in 2024 news worthy ? Hey world, in case you haven't heard, they've invented some new adjectives, and corrupted the use of pronouns, just to confuse everyone when reading news-blips. Stop using 'them' & 'their' when talking singular person ... confusing as hell. Marketing for those endorsement $$$$ 👍
  18. That's about standard for the price point. 80kW fast charging more than enough, considering the speed of most charging cables when O&A. Irrelevant for home charging overnight. Along with 4 hours of Thai road driving. Everyone's not in a hurry or Ps in bottle while driving. Our car (2022 'old' tech now ) will accept 76kW, and 320 WLTP rating (quite accurate), and yet to need faster or be on the road longer or further on any one stretch.
  19. If remaining in BKK, you should never really need a car, just a lot of patience. When we visit BKK, we park our car and use public trans. Traffic isn't worth dealing with. For others not living in BKK ... It's all location relative. First 2 years here, I didn't own a car, and didn't need one. Did have a MB, since living 16 kms outside of town, Udon Thani. A bicycle would have been enough, as a couple local markets were there, even 24 yrs ago. Now there's a couple 7-11s, so no real need even for a MB. If owning a new car every 5-7 years as I did, or less, then it is one of your most expensive conveniences per month, just to have & operate. Of course if you can drive a MB, cuts cost considerably, down to just pocket money. Or 2nd hand car/truck, a keeper that you maintain for long time, to get money's worth. Always bargains out there, same as everywhere in the world. If in a metro area, then bus system is more than enough to get around, with a little patience. We could easily live without a car, but it is convenient, as we still live a bit rural, sort of. The only real reason we ever needed one, was convenient for daughter to go to private school, which was in town. Lived in 2 different houses/areas while attending school, both about same distance from town/school. Last couple years, actually had a van service take here back & forth, but had to me them, 5 kms away, on the main road to town. Saved dealing with in town rush, and a lot of petrol costs, as daily commute was 60-70 kms a day, without the service. Mere 20 kms a day using the van service. It's all much cheaper now, car ownership with BEV. Buying in is cheaper, car is better, operating & maintenance cost is cheaper. Buy in is ~550k, instead of ~700k. Energizing (PEA/MEA) is 12k a year, instead of 54k for petrol (20k kms yearly @ 14 kpL) No oil changes or tune-ups.
  20. Holy Buddha ... her on the international stage, representing the USA. 🙄 She must have some good sh!t. She's never been, hopefully never will go to Europe ...
  21. Sad, but true. Only cheney was worst...oops, I mean bush 2, Then LBJ round out the worse 3 in my lifetime. Those 3 even make nixon & clinton look good
  22. Looks like it was just hopeful thinking. Seems she can't get anything right, as Philly is turning into a real sh!thole, and downhill ever since Rizzo left office ...
