  1. Geez ... how many threads needed to discuss the 'longest piece of string' topic repeated here. As many variables as someone's choice in relationship, dining, alcohol consumptions, available income, ability or desire to be thrifty. Big contributing factors, which dictated 'monthly' expenses, are if all bought in (like myself), so few monthly expense. If a cash buyer or financing buyer of all things, appreciating or depreciating. Last but not least, your age & health. Myself, since bought in, can easily have a comfy lifestyle on ฿20k a month. In a relations, no dating or P4P, non drinker / smoker. In home cooking & eating 95+% of the time. But, out & about (O&A) quite a bit, although thrifty when possible, reference to hotels & dining. Past week, while O&A, hotels were high of ฿2500 (BKK) & low of ฿500 (non BKK). I need pet friendly & secure parking. Clean room, comfy bed & a view works for us. Flip side of monthly expenses , if not bought in, single and being 'social', then I would need to spend at least that ฿65k required for retirement visa, if not heading toward ฿100k a month. That's being healthy with no health issues, or healthcare insurance.
  2. Agree, and part of the failure of the study linked, as short term gains on Keto diet were noticed, but than 12 months out or longer ... not so much. Meaning for me ... ... people didn't stick with it, and expected ... or simply gained all they were going to in the short, also expected Needs to be a eating & activity lifestyle change, and why it works for me. Keto-ish & intermittent fasting, which I'm sticking to pretty good, (actually easy for me) and better as time goes by, instead of the opposite. Cheat less & less, as the results of cheating are almost instant. 2+ years of fairly strict Keto - ish eating & fasting. As stated a few times, blood work all normal now, instead of high+ normal. The fluctuating, season weight gain / loss, completely gone, or need to diet. Loss 20kg from highest weight (100kg), but since keto & fasting, dropped from my usual, five yrs prior to K&F, ~85Kg to ~75 kg, with little to no effort at all. Just using common sense. DIABETICS TAKE NOTE ... very positive part of the study, again, for those that stick with a Keto / Low carb diet. Excellent results, even some reversing their diabetes. Short term again, so guessing again, long term many had problems staying on the diet. But seriously, will power vs insulin daily ... I know which I would choose, if diabetic. Paraphrased from linked article: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7480775/ "In an outpatient clinic study by Yancy et al., overweight patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes were made to follow a VLCKD throughout 16 weeks with the primary outcome measure of monitoring blood glucose control through HbA1c levels. The 28 participants enrolled were restricted to less than 20 g of CHO per day. At the end of the 16-week timeframe, HbA1c decreased from 7.5 ±1.4% to 6.3 ±1.0% (p<0.001). The absolute decrease in HgA1c was approximately 1.0% in 11 participants (52%). The relative decrease in HgA1c from baseline was >10% in 14 participants, and >20% in six participants. Furthermore, seven participants had their baseline diabetic medications discontinued, 10 participants had their baseline medications decreased, while four participants had unchanged requirements regarding baseline medications"
  3. Did you actually read it, or just the headliner ... That's a very inconclusive article. Seems after each study research, come the slight disclaimer of, 'insufficient date or short study' ... no real conclusion. Studies seem a bit bias, though no surprise "However, despite the positive impact on cardiovascular risk factors, there is insufficient data to support KD in the long term as the studies were of relatively shorter duration, ranging from three to 36 months only." ... also means insufficient data for any negative. "The lack of evidence regarding long-term cardiovascular implications indicates that making recommendations against or in favor of KD should be a topic of further discussion." "However, the differences in weight change were not significant" "In contrast, a meta-analysis of 11 randomized controlled trials proposed to assess the effects of LCD vs LFD on weight loss and risk factors of CVD reported that cardiovascular risk factors such as SBP and DBP were not found to be statistically significant among both groups." "Despite the results of the pilot study demonstrating a positive impact, there are limitations in generalization due to the small sample sizes of the study." "Limitations of this study include small sample size, single-arm design, lack of infertility measurements, and a short intervention time interval" "Further research is warranted to evaluate the long-term implications of KD." "This research was supported (in whole or in part) by HCA and/or an HCA-affiliated entity." 4. Took my brother & sis to Natura Café. Really nice, and very good food. Can download menu here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1XICiq994XhMIjt0i5n8L5hDaTQRnbSqZ Lovely grounds and very photogenic. About 9 kms SW of ICONSIAM, and well worth the visit. Had a very nice Chicken Massaman, as out of the Beef Massaman that I wanted 😭 https://www.google.com/maps/place/Natura+Café/@13.6913804,100.4670246,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x30e299d8f0580af3:0xe71a36dc6dbb47f6!8m2!3d13.6913804!4d100.4670246!16s%2Fg%2F11fpghw5x2?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDIxOC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D
  5. Agree, the engine is extremely quiet, and I've mentioned that before on other threads.
  6. MAGA has what to do with anything in TH. Oh, you mean Trump pick their pockets ... GOT IT
  7. Next project for spare 2 lots of land ... Underground shipping containers for lining quarters. PREPPERS - R - US
  8. Please tell us what they, or any police force can do to prevent and or investigate, to solve the all important, deadly pickpocket folks. Aside from plain clothes officers in high risk areas (which the may even have), though with limited resources and shy of 40M tourist a year ... good luck with that. Didn't see who and don't know when ... yea, we get right on it. They gave him good advice. Go back to shop, if even that is where it happened, and ask to see CCTV, if they even have. PoPo has better things to do. Aside from getting enough false insurance complaints from tourist, they can't be bothered. 50 years of playing tourist, never last anything, never had anything stolen, never been pickpocketed. Just use a little of that uncommon common sense. I does go a long way.
  9. Panang moo, not 7-11 🍽️
  10. Lived in the Northeast about 17 or 18 years, which is almost as bad as Bangkok, and lungs have always been clear (non-smoker), per almost yearly x-ray.
  11. Seems the IO was ready to just approve the retirement version, but wife didn't relay that info. After stamped & paid, a wee bit late to tell the hubby. One good thing about 'retirement' extensions, they can be a bit more lenient when in a good mood. Got Led Zep's 'Communication Breakdown' going a round in my head
  12. What did he actually expect the police to do, any different than PoPo in any other city or country to do. You got pickpocketed. You pickpocketed, report taken. If the catch someone, and they have your cards on them, case solved. No different than PoPo anywhere. Next time pay attention to your bag, and be grateful, they didn't simply take the whole bag.
  13. Irrelevant what other think, the IO told you what he requires, and you apparently had it. 2 months statement of 'seasoned' funds in bank was enough for him at that office. Since it was an extension and not a first time application, 2 months vs 3 makes sense. Bummer your wife didn't tell you, as could have went to bank, got statement returned, stamped & done.
  14. Yes, irrelevant to the world, unless you live in London.
  15. ROCK ON 😎 Doesn't state what time, but 'empty taxi shelter', so guessing way after the witching hour. Who hasn't gotten their freak on in public somewhere, especially out of the 'public eye', well, almost. Envious Bolt driver
  16. to the title ... mayor of a city, and about as irrelevant as can be. Not worthy of a headline.
  17. Only because I was stoned. Same with Monty Python, as if watch either now, I wonder why I even bothered way back when.
  18. At extension time, you submit same form TM7, with what ever 'your' Imm office asks for the marriage visa extension. At the bottom of TM7, instead of 'retirement' as reason to extend stay, you simply write 'marriage'. Unless I'm missing something, it's pretty simple if extending '0 non immigrant visa'. I've done it a few times, changed from marriage to support of Thai national to retirement to marriage, back to retirement. Using Imm offices at Udon Thani & Hua Hin. As stated, retirement is less paperwork & more finances, instant approval. No 30 day 'under consideration' wait. Both way too simple.
  19. You mean again, for the 10th time ... I don't think so. Go back to USAID pre-2014 along with NATO has always been the aggressor, not RU ...
  20. Agree, still loving ours, and would certainly buy again. O&A with it now and comfy on long drives. As stated, owned ICE version 2 yrs 40k kms, and present BEV for 2.5 yrs and 40k km now.
  21. So no other option except 'other' if you think RU is right in all of this. Not much of a poll. RU is bad RU is bad RU is bad I don't know I don't care
