  1. Yea, KP is a province needing a few more ???? Although if living there, you charge up at home. If traveling through, plan wisely, or a friendly guesthouse with your own long extension cord.????
  2. Actually at same or less cost, than being on the grid & ICEs. Thailand now has an extensive charging station network, though may be a bit lacking if most had EVs for long distance driving. Those that do now, and shop at Central mall / Robinsons along with others get free charging while at the mall. Lack of EV ownership numbers keeps availability open now. Was at Paseo mall yesterday and 3 or 5 bays for charging, all empty, but free while shopping. We still have an ICE / MG ZS, and if not only 1 yr old, would consider changing to an EV. E-scooter now for my everyday, wasteful driving to park & surf. Could easily walk or ride bicycle to both. Keep the MG for heavy shopping and long haul out & about such as now. Don't want a saleng / side cart on the scooter, as will take the fun out of driving it. Next car will be EV, as simply makes sense, financially and environmentally, if believing in such a thing. I actually don't, except for the air pollution aspect of it. The planet is fine, and will 'refresh' itself, once it sheds itself of parasitic humans. Figure man has a few generation or 5 before they self destruct.
  3. It does if you make it so. Easily done, to power your home & EV with solar.
  4. Yes, they made a choice to leave the UK & free healthcare behind when they left. Same with pension increases. It's in the not so small print. Now cry about their choice. Did they write / lobby the gov't to change the policy before or after leaving, or just come to AN to cry about their choice.
  5. Apples and oranges. Do the Hamptons look like a slum and have a beach most wouldn't swim in. Pier restaurants that smell of the sewage below on low tide.....I think not.
  6. Most things are an estimate. As everyone's driving style will differ, along with proper maintenance/charging of the batteries. Your / human's life expectancy is an estimate. Mid 70's now, but people die at year 1 and others live to 100. The e-scooter I just bought, gives me 3 yrs warranty on motor, 2 on battery & 1 on the controller. Honda gives you what for a warranty. Since I'm well experienced with Lithium batteries, I expect to get about 800-1000 cycles of full charges. Then probably 500 at least of 80 % or less. Should last 5-10 yrs, depending on use, how many days the weather is good. Since I'm going solar, basically free charging. Though the estimate cost if not solar for a full charge is 5 baht. That's good for an estimate 100-150 range on full charge @ 35 kph. So I'll get the low end of that, as 50 kph is my average / usual around the village & to and from the surf. 40 kms a day, if I do my usual 2 long circuits, so charge every 3 days if lucky, 2 if not. 1000 cycle X 2 = 2000 days / 365 = 5.5 yrs, but figure 1/3 a year it's rainy or I might not use, so add 1/3 more, and we're at about 7-8 years for the battery charging at 100 % Few more years at 80%. 10 yrs use on negative side of the numbers. New batteries will be better and cheaper in 10 years. For me, it's a no-brainer, and I really like the power of the scooter. Off the line nothing will touch it, mid is great, top end is limited, but staying under 90 kph will keep me alive ???? Riding around now in the car, I don't catch myself doing much more than 60 any more. It will be me and dog on the scooter, which is 90% of the car driving, doing our 2 daily rounds of park & surf sniffin', and leaving a land mine here and there.
  7. Still here ... nuff said I can be happy just about anywhere.
  8. Test one out, 7-11, 55 baht 490ml Was a Beer Lao Dark fan before the switch. Price kept going up. When lived in Udon Thani, mere 25 baht in Laos. Here now, I think 65 ish, so a bit silly.
  9. Driven that road so many times. You'd have to be stupid drunk to end up on the beach.
  10. Agree, and still have hard time spending frivolously. Makes me wonder how all those lottery millionaires end up broke 5 yrs down the line. Those who never had and worked, seem to value what they have. When I do spend on toys, they're well researched and try to buy the best bang for my buck / baht. Spend more now, since on borrowed time, and interest on savings can't keep up with inflation, so what's the point, if you don't need it.
  11. I've been practical most of my life also, though dined out a lot. No the 'show' kind of shopper though. Now have oops fund and wife / kid have not future worries, so I don't save anything. Bought an E-scooter this week, surely don't need, but simply wanted. Collection of RC toys, drones, all fun by frivolous spending to me. Puts a smile on my face, so all that matter. Daughter at present gets most of my extra, while she starts her business. Once self sufficient, my liquid will double, should be fun.

  13. Privacy ... I'm on my 3rd house, in the boonies, though 2 within 20kms of larger metro, new on, only 40k people in the whole amphur. why besides privacy, land is a lot cheaper, and only negative, is when selling, Buyer needs to be retired or have ties to the immediate area.
  14. 2009, so the land has 12 yrs of appreciation. Sorry, but I would expect a tidy profit, unless paid way too much when purchased. The amphur / land office will tell you it's value. The house, should recoup the cost, only due to inflation. You should never lose money on RE, especially land here. My experience anyway.
  15. I'm too lazy even to do an oil change ... ???? Pretty sad really, as use to be too skint for anything I couldn't do. A good thing, as force me to DIY, as over the years, I've swapped motors, trans, rears, could do most things. Except maybe track down a short or shim a drive draft. That was before all the emissions and added cr ap were added. Now have to take 10 things off to get to one.
  16. '54' and so happy I grew up in that time period. High school teachers were excellent, before unionized and did it for the love of it, not the salary. Taught 'free thinking'
  17. Daughter went to St Mary's, then Don Bosco, last 4 yrs. I'd avoid St Mary's, and Don Bosco was quite good. Prepped her well for Uni, as she had her pick of top Uni s in Thailand.
  18. My post above should have read '10 wheel' truck.
  19. Agree, people are the same world wide, in just about all things. I would have less faith in buying a used vehicle from a foreigner, as I haven't met many I'd trust. Too many here because they're a bit skint, so do people think they'll maintain anything any better.
  20. Why would I bother w/ aspirin: "Daily aspirin therapy: Understand the benefits and risks https://www.mayoclinic.org › in-depth › art-20046797 The benefits of daily aspirin therapy don't outweigh the risk of bleeding in people with a low risk of heart attacks" Almost as silly as a healthy person wearing a mask or getting a vaccine that doesn't protect you from getting or passing covid.????????????
