  1. Smarter as to book smart and general world knowledge, unless they are Uni grad and their specialized fields. TBH, most of that knowledge really isn't useful in life. Almost as smart as Thais, as could live off the land, if the world went to sh!t. Not nearly as good as them, but I could survive. Guessing most expats would starve without Thais in their lives, if had to survive in the wild, or not so wild, on their own.
  2. I do use plastic here or anywhere really, just for those reasons. If I did, I'd scrape the 3 digit security number off the back.
  3. Fake news, with archive blip, with no info, and nobody wants to take credit. And RTNews links aren't allowed
  4. Maybe they'll actually honor them on Elephant Day ... and release them back to the wild. Give them their freedom.
  5. They don't even care if you are Thai Buddhist or Christians, they kill Thai Muslims also. Terrorist deserve one thing, a bullet in the head IMHO.
  6. They are not separatist, the are murderous terrorist. Their demands are wanting the 4 lower provinces. Never going to happen. Live in peace with everyone else living there, continue like it is. No need for a peace agreement, if there is peace. Try to stop killing people, and Thai military will stop killing you.
  7. Pretty hard to think about peace talks when the terrorist are still killing people
  8. As stated earlier, Turtles, easy, burn your plastic, and don't give to govt to dump in seas. Global Warming ... USA ... only 7 of highest temp were in 21st Century ...
  9. If not plans to live in TH, why not just rescind his citizenship. Actually might be the easiest way. https://www.siam-legal.com/thailand-law/renunciation-of-thai-citizenship-application-process/#:~:text=Applicant applies with competent officials,of Bangkok (30 days).
  10. @ExpatOilWorker Do you know how many kWh you are using a month now ? If so, base your system's minimal production on your highest usage month. 8kW inverter w/20kWh ESS is enough, (just some days), BUT, there is only 2 of us, and at nightfall, we're basically in the bedroom (also TV / vid room) till we wake the next day. Maybe a snack mid way thru the night, but very little electric use. About 8kWh overnight (14 hour period) and wake up to about 60% remaining in ESS. Like to stay above 50%, for longevity of batteries, and, if a couple crappy days in a row, that could be an issue, getting back 100-90-80%, first day, then less the next day. Hasn't happened yet, but again, it's just the 2 of us, and 1 room basically at night. So as stated in the thread; 1 AC, 1 TV, 2 laptops & 2 frigs are all that's running. If daughter lived here, that would be another of the same. Would have gone with two 5kW inverters & 30kWh of ESS, if not 3 inverters.
  11. Agree with others, and this has anything to do with road safety. More like drive legally & responsibly IMHO R I P
  12. OMT ... could ... should lead to a BEV. You'd be a fool not to, if having solar. Solar cuts about 10k a month off living expense. 5k for PEA savings & 5k from petrol savings. Come August, and that's 3 yrs having solar, and ROI is more than half done. And our 'installed' system, wasn't cheap. This guy will talk you through solar installation. The kid's a genius. I think key points, are, hook battery up last, and solar panels to inverter at night, when not producing. Save zapping yourself, as could easily kill you.
  13. Feel like I did a Philly happy hour pub crawl for dinner. 1st bar, having buffet of sandwiches. A nice Ham & Cheddar on Rye (no photo). Next pub, a very nice pulled Pork, before & after the pulling 😎
  14. I get most of my chocolate fix with my, almost daily Kefir smoothie. Though more like yoghurt dessert. Wee bit of honey & Creatine ... damn healthy. Chocolate (100% cacao) & Milk Kefir being quite nutritious. 100% cacao powder offers numerous health benefits, including being a rich source of antioxidants, fiber, and minerals, potentially supporting heart health, mood, and gut health, while also being a good source of iron and magnesium.
  15. @scubascuba3 A little bit relative, as I'll take a little fat over sugar any day. Cacao & coconut oil have their positives, while sugar has none.
  16. Homemade ... recipe calls for ... 1/3 c 100% cacao powder ... 1/3 c Coconut Oil ... 1/3 c Sugar (I use < 1 Tbsp honey) Tasty stuff, and less sugar than store bought. Go easy, as high saturated fat & caloric count, if concerned about weight.
  17. My PM2.5/ AQI meter crapped out. Started displaying the PM2.5 & AQI as the same # ... oops. Now all readings, aside from Temp & RH are -0- PM2.5 µg/m3 converted to AQI ... for reference WHO healthy level = 5 µg/m3 Which it actually is today 😎 7 years old, and served me well. Order another sensor (PMS5003) to pop back the casing. LAZ - ฿394 👍
  18. We have solar, so -0- when not O&A 1st year owning, MG ZS, drove 20k kms, and conservative estimate of 340 kms per full charge. IF using PEA @ ฿5 per kWh = ฿1,333 per month So 20k kms ÷ 340 kms per charge = 58.82 full charge 46.3kWh (usable battery) X ฿5 = ฿231.5 full charge ฿231.5 X 58.82 = ฿13.6k ÷ 12 = ฿1,333 per month For curious, vs petrol of same MG EV, which we owned previous to BEV version. 20k kms ÷ 14 kpL = 1428 L X ฿ 35 / L = ~฿50k ÷ ฿4,166 per month Seems to be taking 18 months for our second 20k kms, so a wee bit less, the past 18 months ... IF ... we didn't have solar. Use the WLTP rating, and it will give you a decent range per full charge. Actually a bit less than actual for our driving style in 'ECO' mode, which is more than enough power. MG ZS ... WLTP rating of 320 kms, we average at least 340 kms per charge, and that's at highway speeds of 90 kph, O&A, when possible.
  19. The man wants lasting peace, not another ceasefire that would probably get ignored. Kiev is still sending drones to Moscow and killing civilians. Bit in the MSM 🙄 Not much of a peace initiative. Reported ... 13 Mar, 2025 11:01 ... "At a press briefing on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova revealed that Moscow had closely examined the results of the talks and the relevant statements, but added that Moscow had yet to receive a formal ceasefire proposal." - RTNews News-blip of Putin aid statement (same as OP) Mar 13, 2025 13:39 Headline ... (RTNews) "Russia not interested in temporary Ukraine deal – Putin aide Moscow aims to reach a long-term peaceful resolution of the conflict that takes its interests into account, according to Yury Ushakov"
  20. Probably the 1st month of having, as we were being really conservative, to see how little we could get by on, along with only having the one ESS then, and would wake up to 35% remaining. Aug 2022 having a lot of 10kWh +/- days. Guessing at end of the month, we were out of town. Unless high temps and heavy AC use, we only use 15-20kWh a day, unless charging the car. 30-35kWh a day if heavy AC use. Knocking on 50kWh a day if ACs & charging car. You can also see the days, we were experimenting with exporting, so produced more also. We got the digital meter on the 20th. https://aseannow.com/topic/1268214-solar-8kw-hybrid-inverter-w10kwh-upgraded-to-20kwh-in-sept-2022-essbattery-not-diy/#comment-17556154 graph for Aug 2022 Here's one of, if not the lowest producing day, when we were home. 8.2kWh https://aseannow.com/topic/1268214-solar-8kw-hybrid-inverter-w10kwh-upgraded-to-20kwh-in-sept-2022-essbattery-not-diy/page/4/#findComment-17734118
  21. @ExpatOilWorker We don't need the grid at all for the house, though still connected. First couple weeks, Aug 2022, testing the system functions, we used some grid, and fed some to the grid, (noted below) but after the 18th of he month. I think, we got the digital meter, and don't use the grid for the house.
  22. BM2 answered part of your query. Need to be careful about to many panels, and need to stay within voltage level the inverter will accept. Without that concern, and crappy days, you have more panels, exposure to light, and produce more. I've yet to need the grid, since installed. There have been crappy days, when it took all day to top up the batteries before night fall. So far, not too many of those days, in a row. Amazing how much they will produce, even when crappy out. Of course when it is overcast & rainy, we really don't need the ACs as much, so can easily get by an ~10kWh for the day. Good sunny day, and we're using ACs & charging the car, we can easily use ~50kWh. I think that's about the max that we've used. I stopped paying attention about max use, and most things. Here's one I did note, 5 May 2023, and thet never hit max production, so not that sunny out. We've had 1000+kWh of use a few months a year ...
  23. Yea ... and your point ? As you guessed, yes, out of town. That's all the house uses, so that's all that needs to be produced. That's how solar works, feeds the load/draw of appliances, and recharges the ESS/batteries, from their use overnight. That's June 2024, BTW, and when out of town (just checked) and uses ~4kWh a day, producing ~5kWh a day. Only thing drawing power, probably just the 2 frigs, and 1 light.
  24. Yes, as I've been getting it every year for the past 24 years. COLA = BS low inflation rate to SS benefit receivers Over those 24 years, here been a few with -0- inflation
