Two times, pre Covid, I enjoyed this "French" mountain town. Perfect weather! A year ago not at all. It's growing like crazy! Rich people are buying 2nd homes and streets are full of cars.

Are you low on funds but want to see Thailand? Take a train: Ubon Ratchathani to Sisaket 60km 13 THB. About 0.38 US cents... 1hr. Funny thing; "Slow", "Regular", "Fast" and "Express" are same price and take same time 🙂

Nobody complains humidity? It's the worst for me. I can handle dry heat well, like in California and Spain.

Thailand is nice Oct to end of March for me. Rest in Europe and US.

They may like it most! Once a year - why not? It's the new comers who want to change everything "like back home"... Pattaya is know for party 24/7/360. Stay away if can't handle it.

The weirdest weather may be in Loei. Car window had ice in the morning and car didn't had defrost nor heater... "It is perhaps best known for being a region of extreme temperatures. In the winter it sees the lowest temperatures in all of Thailand, at times reaching below 0 degrees Celsius, whereas in the summer it experiences some of the hottest weather in the country."

I met in Manila horror hotel Brit from Liverpool (my fb team too) who had moved to UK with Filipina wife and 6 kids. Half his, half from her from previous life. UK refused all support.... They were married, 3 of the kids UK citizens and so on. He only had small pension, not enough for housing etc. He was so mad and bitter; "UK refused all the help - we got nothing! Muslim and Hindu families with 15+ kids get everything!" he said. He came back to Phils. Money running out, rest of the family living with relatives in different places. Poor guy. I felt for him. PS. Funny thing; he spoke like Irishman (my guess). "Not Irish, my mother is from Scotland. I spent lot of time with her so I started to speak like her..."

This may be accurate; https://www.euronews.com/business/2024/05/31/pensions-in-europe-which-countries-are-best-and-worst-for-retirement PS .Germany is in ropes.... very large muslim families are expensive to support. First they brought in Turks to build Mercedes cars. The idea was Turks would return home but that didn't happen - they stay and started to multiply like rabbits... Game over.

I was in Ubon Ratchathani and Sisaket and it WAS cool in the evening, night and early morning. Very nice! Heading back there tomorrow 🙂 Not for cool weather but for hot woman...

Go to your basement, put on Sydney fireworks on and adjust TV volume low.

I like Jomtien and will return there but you are right - no energy. But same men would be dead at home! Here, in Samut Prakhan Thai working class area, has lot of action! There's is a bar they start every night at 8pm and party till 8am! Non stop... Good music, lots of pretty chicks and all are drinking but not drank. They say Hi! to me when I do my evening and morning walk.

Looking for same info around Srinagarinda & Hi-Way 9. I may ride Yellow line back and forth - big windows and no driver! Elon Musk Tesla experience for pennies....

There's wedding chapel with rent-a-witnesses 🙂

I can see it! Like Beverly Hills 😉 I hope to find small run down house and fix it. So far they have been way too big. One thing I like is lots are very big. At pool I've seen fresh 70 yr young babes... they may need help.

I've been walking here around and am impressed. https://propertyhub.in.th/en/projects/nantawan-srinagarindra/for-sale 10 mil gets you more house for money than any other place I've been so far. It's huge! The weather is nice too. Morning and evening wind every day, like it used to be on Jomtien beach. PS. 20 min from BKK: Airlink to Yellow Line, then 10 THB taxi.

I don't think the whole country is rotten - far from it. But Manila really is! Those who take limo with tinted windows from MNL to safer guarded areas never see real streets life. I'm already planning the next trip 🙂 This time being smarter and with a local guide.

Is Manila safe for tourists? "Violent crimes, such as armed robbery in public places, sexual assault, and murder, occur regularly and are a serious problem in the Philippines, including Metro Manila. Many crimes involve guns. Gangs often drug tourists before robbing or assaulting them. Pickpocketing, bag snatching, and scams are common." https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/destinations/asia/philippines

Maybe they, robbers and gangsters, red this and left you alone? "....but I want to hear from you guys in Isaan too and even in the Philippines" "Can you live on 20,000 baht per month if you own your own home /condo" "I am very very poor and will need to live on this" "According to the findings, the world's most risky cities for tourists are Caracas, Venezuela with a risk score of 100 out of 100. In second place is Karachi with a score 93.12, followed by Yangon (91.67), Lagos in Nigeria (91.54) and Manila (91.49). Thailand's capital was in 30th place with a risk score of 53.34."

I just got back from Manila, sooner than planned, because I could not take the filth, poverty, noise, greedy beggars which included near every gov official! Plus filthiest hotel in 45 years of travel. $ 45/night - what a garbage dump with cockroaches running all over. Horrible! And I've seen many bad places worldwide. Never made it to Angeles City. Didn't want to. The girls I had planned to meet were understanding and did their best to comfort me and helped what they could but nobody wanted to come to the airport! The Manila Airport area is a war zone; Gangs are roaming around, shots are fired nightly and lot of robbers are staking hotels... Hotel had 4 armed guards, the whole building had steel fence and when I went to near by small store they came along. Not an over kill! A group followed us on the other side of the street. Mean looking filthy desperate guys in 20s. My Pinoy friends couldn't believe I stayed there for 2 nights. Nobody wanted to come there to meet me so I left. I didn't know better. If somebody goes there better fly directly to Clark International in Angeles City. Can't be worse. After I get therapy in Thailand I may take a second shot doing so 🙂 I never was a quitter and ladies were very eager to take care of me. These are not paid ones, no - but regular Pinays who want to meet farangs. Young and pretty and ALL SPEAK GOOD ENGLISH!! PS. I'm back in my regular Bangna hotel. This is a Paradise! I walk day and night where ever I want to. No fear of anything bad. The food is great, people smile and I feel good again. So, the money I flew in Manila was well spent! I appreciate Thailand even more.

Trump needs to Offer Asylum to Refugees from Blighty
GypsyT replied to Yagoda's topic in Political Soapbox
Got curious about angry American refugee in Cambodia jungle who's bragging living in luxury: What ethnicity is Yagoda? Yagoda was born in Rybinsk into a Jewish family. Is Yagoda male or female? "Yagoda was a female waterbender from the Northern Water Tribe." -
