  1. I'm sure that bar's CCTV isn't the only camera in the area. The farang should have known better that to get in a argument with the Thais over a parking spot (was it a car or motorbike?). They say it's was a gogo bar, so I'll assume it's on Soi LK Metro, whenever I park my motorbike in front of a bar in that area, I make sure I go in their bar first, never had a problem over the years.
  2. If by speaking English do you mean as in American taxes? https://www.integrity-legal.com/other-services/expat-tax-law.html
  3. Many of these news stories use stock photos, the one shown in the OP shows zero signs of rain.
  4. Let's not pretend there are some farangs that use agents to use the "less than legal" route.
  5. Why do they have to be tailored? How about buying a pair off Lazada and then taking them to a local seamstress to get the right fit? Much cheaper for a one time use item.
  6. What's the classification of these motorized vehicles? Do they need to be insured?
  7. I knew about it and went last year with my buddies from the Darkside, it's not too far from us. This year we skipped it as there was rain on Saturday and there were other parties we had to attend. I like the night concerts best, last year they had about 50 motorcycles just driving around in a big circle with folks dressed up in various outfits, ok to watch for a few minutes but they went on for a long while.
  8. I was walking along Jomtien's beach promenade several weeks back and some farang went zipping around me on one of those things and it was playing music. He was just zipping around people left and right, an accident waiting to happen. Those things are not meant for sidewalks or to be in traffic, basically they're a skateboard on steroids, keep them on bike paths/lanes.
  9. With my luk kreung son, I speak English with him and him mom speaks Thai, he attends a Thai school where he's tops in English, but in Thai he scores average grades. We stopped his Chinese course and his Thai grades improved. Lot's of teachers offer classes after school hours to help boost the children's grades for small monthly fees. Ask around.
  10. I did my visa extension a few weeks ago and when I went to my bank they gave me an on-the-spot 3 month letter, at Jomtien IO they said I needed 12 months and gave me this sample letter to show the bank. I went back to the bank and they said that type of letter will take 5-7 business days. Cost me 100b with Bangkok Bank and it arrived 5 business days later. This was for me using the international monthly transfer. Here's the sample letter IO gave me to show the bank.
  11. "Hey I have an idea, let's kayak without any life vests in a foreign country". Darwin Award nominee.
  12. OP didn't you ask about a bad bum gun? Now a broken microwave? How much is the rent at this place where things are breaking down on a weekly basis?
  13. Have you thought of checking the big home improvement shops? Home Pro, Thaiwasadu, Global House, Do Home, Mega Home?
  14. There were 4 notebooks/laptops in the room? How many do they need to take on a holiday?
  15. So true, any bad news story in Pattaya, and the posts mentioning "family friendly" are done ad nauseam.
  16. Let's face it, there's no educational requirement to be a taxi driver. Messing with some taxi drivers is like getting between a dog & it's meal.
  17. Facebook marketplace is the new mecca for online thievery. Do not buy anything off of FB that you can't see in person first.
  18. But what's immigration supposed to do when the overstayer doesn't have the money to pay the fine? Perhaps this guy couldn't pay the fine, hence the arrest.
  19. Not Soi Buakow and not 1 year ago, but the modus operandi was exactly the same. Some guys fall into a chunk of money for the 1st time, come to Pattaya, get drunk everyday, bang hookers and lose control. When reality sets in, they are without any support. Good bye cash-hello pavement. A sad way to go.
  20. I was in a bar one night and one farang was buying lady drinks and ringing the bell like crazy. His check bin was almost 100k and the girls told me he's been doing that for a few nights in a row. It turned out he recently settled a lawsuit back home and was awarded a chunk of money and was spending like a mad man. He clearly lost control and will regret it if/when he sobers up.
  21. I did it before with my Kasikorn bank, but it took about a month to clear. These days you can take a photo of the check (front & back). send it to your US bank and many will accept it. try that,
  22. Building on top of a landfill? You're screwed.
  23. Police investigations revealed that Mr. Tobias exchanged 1,000 euros at a bureau de change in Kamala on February 7 at 3:00 pm and at another bureau de change in Kathu at 4:00 pm. Mr. Ozeias exchanged 3,000 euros (about 111,600 baht) at three different booths in Thalang. After the incident, Mr. Ozeias Da Silva fled the country at 8:50 p.m. on February 7. Police are gathering evidence to track him down and prosecute him. Mr. Tobias was charged with using counterfeit money under Section 240 and forgery under Section 241 of the Thai Penal Code, which carries a penalty of 1-15 years in prison and a fine of 20,000-300,000 baht. They had to know they were fake, why else would they be exchanging so much is a short period of time?
