  1. Do you really think airlines scroll through embassy Facebook pages to get their boarding requirements 😆
  2. From your own link it says by land and sea, not by air: For traveling to Thailand by land and sea, UK ordinary passport holders are eligible for Visa Exemption Scheme with a maximum of twice in a calendar year.
  3. Didn't we just have this thread on Monday whereby not a single credible link to these supposed new rules was shown? https://aseannow.com/topic/1325542-has-anyone-heard-of-a-new-law/
  4. Calling a specialist on a Thursday and getting an appointment on Tuesday is pretty good I think. What were you expecting, same day booking?
  5. Yeah how many years ago was that? I opened two accounts on visa exempt but you can't do it for years now.
  6. Is this a thing now where people post question on a forum instead of doing a 3 second Google search 😉
  7. I think you may have answered your own question. You have a Thai wife but only travelling on a tourist visa so the IO decided you should get the "proper" O-A marriage visa next time. Doesn't make it right but it is understandable.
  8. Or do 60 + 30 day extension twice so only 1 border run required
  9. First 120 days wouldn't be a problem (1) 60 days - current visa exempt + extension (2) 60 days - same day border run for visa exempt + extension While you are allowed 2 land crossing visa exempts per calender year the next 60 days depends on your stress levels. (3a) you should get away with another same day border run (agent pre-checks if ok) (3b) best way imo would be to go to somewhere like Vientiane in Laos and get a 60 day tourist visa. You'll need to stay 3-4 days. You could also do the tourist visa trip 2nd which will bring you up to 150 days after extension, with the border run 3rd to get to 180 (no extension required) Note: I just did 208 days last year with 2 visa exempts and 1 tourist visa (+ extensions) and 270 days the year before. Wasn't an issue
  10. That's just another myth repeated constantly here
  11. Why is this misinformation thread allowed to continue? The only links shown are to another forum site and an agents site and many false stories about visa exempt limits by air, maximum of 6 visa exempt entries per year or 180 days maximum stay in a year. This thread had all the false news in it claimed as fact
  12. Krungsri bank officer said they would issue a letter for immigration on this account. I don't know why any such letter would be rejected? The only thing "special" about it is that it's 7 months instead of the standard 3, 6, 9, 12 months. Oh, and it's double the interest of standard time deposit.
  13. Why not. We have to keep 800k baht for 5 months (2 months before and 3 months after application) so what's wrong with keeping it 7 months instead?
  14. Special Time Deposit - 7 months (renewable) He offered me 3 accounts, the savings/ATM account, one that was 0.9% for 12 months and the 1.8% for 7 months
  15. Wouldn't it take you years of interest just to get back what your dead cash was for an Elite Visa....
  16. No, I had shown my passbook on 2 other occasions while on visa exempt and tourist visa and it didn't make any difference as was denied both times. So I just told them I'd like to open an account for inmigration and showed my non-imm O. He said no problem and asked for passport and 2nd photo ID. He then explained 3 accounts I could open. Note: having a savings account already obviously helped in time to set up as my data was already in computer and already had bank app
  17. I was hoping for an agent free thread. We all know it used to be easy to open a bank account on a visa exempt or tourist visa but not in the last 5 years or so. You can still pay an agent 4500 to get a bank account opened but there might be added costs for a Residence Certificate and useless insurance required I was really happy the non-imm O seemed to be all powerfull in bypassing all that crap and bank account cost 0 baht
  18. No, its a fixed deposit account with interest paid monthly. No withdrawals unless you want to lose all your interest. It's called "Special Time Deposit - 7 months". It's renewable every 7 months
  19. The bank officer assured me that this account is fine for immigration and he said they issue the letter for it all the time. Note: I can withdraw the money at anytime, I just lose my interest
  20. I just opened a fixed term bank account in Pattaya to use for my 12 month non-imm O extension and hopefully this info will be useful. Note: while I already had a Krungsri savings account I was denied to open a fixed term account on my previous two trips on visa exempt and tourist visa. I went to Krungsri in Central mall and as soon as I said I had a non-imm O they said no problem, you can open any of the foreigner accounts. I thought I might need a Residence Certificate but nope, all I needed was: (1) Passport (they copied ID page and non-imm O stamp) (2) 2nd photo ID. I used my Australian licence which they copied (3) I needed to write down my full address in Pattaya and Australia which he entered on Computer (no proof required) (4) mobile phone number The guy even set up the account in my banking app for me so I was very happy with the service. This account also gives me 1.8% interest on the 800k baht so at least that's something compared to my 0.1% in the savings/ATM card account. This makes me think getting a non-imm O e-visa before I came was well worth it.
  21. Bodega Bar on corner of 2nd road/soi 13/2. Also 60 baht ice cold beers 😀
  22. So you start a thread complaining about them ripping up some paving tiles to lay some electrical cable underneath, however now you want to rip up the entire beach walkway to plant some trees 😆 Maybe you need to just not go to Pattaya Beach if you dislike it so much
  23. No need to visit Jomtien to ask as I already posted the non-imm O requirement sheet they hand out. It clearly states 800k had to be in bank for 2 months prior to application of non-imm O
  24. Here's the actual non-imm O requirement sheet handed out by Jomtien immigration
  25. You have to upload documents <2mb so that could be the problem? I used "Lens" app on my phone to scan condo chanote and that uploaded easily
