BOT governor: Thai economic engines not powerful anymore
rott replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The structure of the economy has not changed for 40 years. It is based on exports of automobiles, petroleum products and electronics as well as tourism. That presumably is a criticism, but what should be different, what should they have changed to.? Probably I've missed something. -
Well you've missed out on Eddie Howe and Geraldo, only a limited pool left.

Which Boozer is the Best in Bangkok?
rott replied to FruitPudding's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Thanks to the OP for the thread, it threw a few names up that I had almost forgotten about. Will be back in BKK soon after an absence and this has given me some places to look up. But do any do pints of bitter or IPA with change out of 200 baht.? I think Paddy Fields do (or did) a reasonably priced draught Guinness. Obviously I've no idea where is open ad where not, bit of walking to be done and the exercise will do me good. -
Googled it and it has been in play since June, no screams have been heard so it can't be s bad. Strange.

Key Visa - New UK passport application
rott replied to Speedo1968's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
Took 6 weeks for me, end August till early October. Not Key but the one in Soi 15 can't remember the name. -
That's what he thought. Apparently it is the registration for the account that caused him problems.

MOPH: Drinking alcohol increases risk of contracting COVID
rott replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I am not a gynaecologist but I agree with you. -
Anyone have experience of the above, and is it just the UK or everywhere.? Never heard of it before but have just been told by someone who had to get it and complete it for travel next week. This is someone who does not normally have problems with forms but who said it was worse than the CoE.

It’s expats, not tourists that are visiting Thailand: Business leader
rott replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
But do they really need to be told all this.? Anyone with half a brain and half an idea what's going on understands clearly. Answered my owh question I suppose. -
Whatever your point is. But carry on nobbust heddust. But remember my original comment was just surprise that Moderna was available free in Thailand.
-
I asked about changing the date they had given me for the first jab and they said it could not be done as they were in batches. No problem, can't be done means can't be done. Like asking gotty for a rational response.
-
Cost 1650 a jab at the Pattaya Memorial with four weeks between.
-
Yes very unlucky timing, I think he took it on just before Covid.
-
There's still an Internet shop on Soi Post Office, (13/2) down before Beach Rd.
-
Moderna free.?

Thailand Plans to Open Borders to 400,000 Foreign Laborers Next Month
rott replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
That appears to be the point of it, to squeeze bars out of existence in Pattaya and parts of Bangkok. Anecdotal reports on here say that in much of the country food and alcohol is sold as normal in caffs, but I get reports from other parts that there is nowt doing. -
Also C. Cretinous O. OP with V. Vacuous I. Ideas about D. Drinking places in Pattaya

I am surprised the response on here has been so restrained. It took me and a few I know in the bar business completely by surprise. This will do Phuket the world of good and be a further blow to Pattaya. Stating the obvious there I know, but I do have difficulty believing what is going on. No feel for Pattaya as it is now, I am still shaking my head. Metaphorically of course.
