  1. I wonder which poster s/he used to be? There's a lot to choose from.
  2. If I get a personally insulting post from you, it makes me happy, as it exposes you for what you are. Job done.
  3. It's time for the rest of the world to man up and remove the UN from the US and remove the veto from the (NO) security council.
  4. Where does it say that the US has to allow other countries to rip it off? The free lunch is over, put on the big boy pants and deal with it, instead of whining incessantly that Trump isn't fair. I wish all western governments cared more about their own citizens than the dregs of humanity washing up on their shores.
  5. The Singapore on the Thames. Thou jest assuredly. Singapore is a well run city, unlike London. The Singapore airport is excellent, unlike that pile of excrement, Heathrow.
  6. Blair took Britain into a war based on lies, by a very bad US president. I don't remember him ever apologising for that.
  7. The problem is that far from working with Trump to better their own country, the liberals hate Trump so much they'll destroy the US if that's what it takes to get Trump. PS, seems that the word liberals has come to refer to the loony leftists, rather than what it used to mean.
  8. If no American company makes farm equipment don't blame Trump for that- blame the greedy scum that destroyed US industry to make bigger profits. Seems that a long peace without any major crisis made people too complacent. Time's up, reality is along to give the sheeple a boot where it hurts. It may be happening now, but it was inevitable that it was going to happen eventually.
  9. I have been saying that if Zelensky sends drones to destroy infrastructure in Russia they will not like the reply. So whine away, by all means but as long as Zelensky keeps making futile attacks on Russia Putin will keep sending an unpleasant reply.
  10. You have zero proof that I am a Putin supporter, but never mind the truth when you think you can score some sort of silly win over me. You come across as just another moaning ninny with nonsense insults. I'd love to get into an historical debate with you, but it'll just get deleted for being off topic.
  11. I had insurance till I couldn't afford both insurance and visa money in the bank, which is when I made the only choice possible and returned to home country. Of course, being a nurse I knew all about dying, and not something I wanted to do in a Thai government hospital. My wife had to sleep under her mother's bed to care for her while in hospital. Nurses don't do patient care.
  12. Perhaps he didn't have any caregivers, and his son was too busy to notice till too late. You don't know what was going on in the home.
  13. If his wife is the same age I pretty much guarantee she won't be able to be a caretaker.
  14. I reckon that the check in staff would take one look and deny him travel as an ordinary patient. They don't want passengers dying during the flight.
  15. I just saw that photo and I'm shocked that it was allowed to get to that stage. If he doesn't get it amputated it's probably going to kill him anyway. I worked on an orthopaedic ward, and we had diabetic patients getting bits of their legs amputated, so forget about "basic care" saving the leg. They'd start at the toes, then part of the foot, then the lower calf, upper calf, above the knee and so on. If I ever get to that stage I'm telling them to go above the knee straight off. My mother lost her leg to diabetes. It didn't save her for very long though.
  16. Of course they can. The son imagines that if he goes back to the UK he'll magically get better. Life doesn't come with any guarantees, and sometimes one has to accept that things will not get better. I suppose I have a different viewpoint having dealt with dying people for decades, but someone needs to give him the facts of life. His father chose to move to Thailand, so it's his choice to die there too, else he'd have had enough money put aside to be evacuated, or have a proper insurance policy.
  17. One of my colleagues in 87 had been boasting about how much she was gaining in wealth due to her shares. After the crash she was crying. Didn't affect me in any way as I don't gamble on the stock market. I don't remember anything being different after the crash though. No one lost a job, no one lost money ( except those that had shares ). Not like the 2008 one where the evil bankers gave me zero interest on my savings. I had to put off moving to Thailand for nearly 2 years because the pound crashed.
  18. Yes, I was very lucky. Of course, of those that did go, some should never have imagined they had what it took in the early days. The bases now are more like hotels than bases on the edges of civilization, so it doesn't matter so much. Back when I went all the water was melted from ice, and showers were rationed. In summer with more people it was one shower every 5 days, if we were lucky, and of course no happy endings for a year. Now they desalinate water from the sea, and there are loads of females down there. I loved almost everything about my time, but we were unfortunate with our leaders, which caused problems. Apart from that it was great.
  19. I was at Scott Base, though we had a couple at South Pole ( US ) station. I also had a break in the dry valleys at Lake Vanda and did a lot of walking. One trip was to Lake Vida walking over the Clark glacier. We all had a dip in the lake, though the first in had to literally break the ice. Most of my trips were up to the Scott and Shackleton huts, though we did get a trip to the far east at Cape Crozier. That is where a large Emperor penguin colony is. Cherry Garrard wrote about his trip in winter to see them in the book The Worst Journey in the World. We actually found the remains of the stone shelter they built. We were too early for Emperors, but I helped with the count of Adelies at Cape Royds. So yes, I have been up close and personal with Adelie penguins. Also with Skuas that like to feed on penguin chicks, and seals, which lay on the ice in front of the base to have their pups. Scott Base was too far from the sea to have penguins there. To go further afield involved flying over great distances, and as such we were not allowed as we all had jobs to do, Certainly the most interesting year of my life.
  20. Sorry, but your point eludes me. Your reasoning that I'm a racist is too convoluted for me to understand it. BTW, the illegals that front up on the leaky boats are likely running away from conflict in their own part of the world, so unlikely to be keen to be mercenaries. Also they'd need to speak English, Furthermore, given their religion, who's side do you think they'd be on in a conflict with the taliban?
  21. Yes, but even a war criminal can get it right sometimes.
  22. Given I agree with him that retaliation will only make things worse, perhaps Blair isn't as dumb as I thought he is. Trump likely wants some grovelling and a deal, and then he'll make the horrid tariffs go away. Starmer should at least try that before going all kindy war on the US.
