If we contributed to the Thai economy they would be making it easy to stay- they don't and we don't in any serious way. Many years ago I could stay in Thailand for 90 days visa free with back to back stays as long as I liked. That ended long ago and now it's having to put up with nonsense as to black or blue pen, size of photo, and obtaining a bank print out on day of application. Complete BS designed to make it difficult.

Thank you for that. However, you obviously think the present system is great and wish to see it continue. I think it's rotten to the core, benefits only the rich and should be blown up, burnt, and consigned to the bottom of the ocean never to be seen again. I want a system that doesn't depend on destroying the environment to make a few very rich while exploiting the rest of us. I doubt that will happen, and when this minor kerfuffle is over, it will be business as usual, just as it was business as usual after 2009- no lessons learned. You can call me cynical, if you wish.

Had they gone the hydrogen route there would be no need to build anything in China, no need to use raw materials sourced from dodgy labour places, no need for highly polluting batteries at end of life, and no need for long charging times ( if one can even find a charge point ), and need to increase electricity production, or suffer blackouts. Battery cars are going to be the VHS of the car world, once common sense occurs. For those that haven't woken up yet, hydrogen is a proven technology and already in use in some places. Some years ago, I saw London buses that ran on hydrogen. They have hybrid buses now, but the motor is always starting and stopping, so the batteries are not very good.

Trump tells Americans ‘it won’t be easy’

I assume that is referring to me. LOL. If I were going to make up my life on here I wouldn't be referring to my failed relationships ( I'd have married a DDG Thai Chinese uni student and her parents would have bought me a mansion and made me CEO of a major corporation ). My career in the military would have me retiring as a colonel at least, with a chest full of medals for a glorious TOD in Vietnam. I certainly wouldn't have been a nurse paid far less than I was worth, and you can ask me questions about Antarctica that only one been there would know answers to. -

Not at all, and we live with our choices. And I've made plenty of bad ones. Damn embarrassing ones, but survived. That was sarcasm. I'm sure you made a lot of good choices, while I made some bad ones, but we all make our beds and get to sleep in them. In the dying days of life it's all irrelevant anyway. I'm just happy that I didn't go with farmer, as I had a very interesting life and some of it was amazing. I guess that's as good as it gets. -
Nothing scares the ultra rich people more than a threat to their ability to get more money. In their heads, they never have enough.

LOL. Musk acts like a man that if he wasn't very rich would be described as "dumber than a box of rocks". If one needs proof that being rich doesn't mean one has common sense, it's Musk. IMO

Good one! How many thousands do you think the Russians spend for a military plane toilet seat? https://www.military.com/defensetech/2018/07/11/air-force-no-longer-spending-10000-toilet-seats-officials-say.html Air Force No Longer Spending $10,000 on Toilet Seats, Officials Say

Anything to say about a different war with similar? I expect you don't.

I'll add that to the list of posts over the past couple years claiming that Russia had no tanks, no missiles, no troops, no oil, no money, no drones, no bullets etc etc etc. Ever hear the story of the boy that called wolf?

Out of interest were you a steward on board flights? I often think I should have done that or worked on a cruise ship for the travel. A lot of things changed for me after I discovered Thailand. I wanted to see the world, but that all ended the day I landed in Thailand many years ago. LOS was my paradise, my heaven on earth. -

I've been trying to make the point that NOBODY has total control over their lives. Don't believe me - go hang out in an emergency room for a while- that'll change your mind. None of them chose to be there. Actually, the best decision I made in my entire life was to join the military. I loved it till it changed and then I didn't. However, everything good about my life followed on from that lucky decision. It was a lucky decision. I never grew up even imagining that- I was going to be a farmer- and it was pure luck I worked with a guy that made me consider it. Had I not joined up my life would have been boring and disappointing. Nursing may have been paid sod all, but it was never boring, and I got to see a lot more of the world than I would have milking cows. All of it pure luck.
