  1. Difference is that you get a decent pension in LOS from Britain. I don't get the pension if I leave here. If anyone can suggest how I can live a decent life in LOS without any income, I'm all ears.
  2. I can see how you are the life and soul of the party when you start ranting about that, LOL. You were making sense till you just HAD to go and put that gem in.
  3. 5555555555555555 If I had the means to live in LOS I could live in a proper house here. I can never go back to live because I can't afford 800,000 in the bank plus health insurance. Last year in LOS I lived in an hotel room, so yes, no need for a proper house.
  4. If a senior is bored that's down to them. I'm never bored unless I want to be. So much to do I'll never be able to before I cark it. Age discrimination- absolutely, from the spoiled princes and princesses that never understand that one day they are going to be old too.
  5. IMO that's a western invention, probably because too many men were not being ripped off when they left a loveless partner. Can't have women missing out on the goodies.
  6. No. A village wedding does not count as a legal wedding for division of the spoils.
  7. or previously married/ living with, or had children, or ( probably ) if not a virgin. If I take one thing away from the sinsod debate ( on this and on many other similar threads ) it is that some farangs really do leave their brains at the airport. By all means play the game and give it for show, but freaking' don't give it for real.
  8. LOL. If we actually create a real AI and it has the ability to do stuff, rather than just think, I think it would determine that the best thing for the planet is if we humans are no longer on it.
  9. I don't think I'm rotten, given I spent most of my working life tending to the sick as a nurse, but I am past my sell by date. Just filling in time till the last great adventure. Do I deserve to carry on? Given that we don't have a right to painless euthanasia, it's not up to me as to when I pass over the great divide.
  10. LOL. I'm still waiting for anyone to come up with affordable, effective and acceptable solutions to man made pollution. So far nada. What is the first thing people wanted to do after restrictions eased- get on a plane to travel! 5555555. So much for doing something practical by not flying and polluting the atmosphere.
  11. Yeah, I really got fooled big time. That whole be good and work hard and we'll look after you when you retire thing is complete BS.
  12. Yes total removal, and horrible side effects. I'd never go that route if I could go back.
  13. I suspect not air but environmental.
  14. I used to walk a great deal. Made no difference to my hypertension, or my prostate.
  15. Do they still do radical prostatectomies? If so don't get one of those. Ruined my life.
  16. Only if neighbours also affected in same way.
  17. Do you know any doctors specialising in environmental diseases? Average Dr probably doesn't have a clue. I have been misdiagnosed by so many different western doctors it's not funny. Took a Thai consultant 1 minute to correctly diagnose me on history alone.
  18. Did you miss that it's all the family, not just him? Sounds like something environmental to me.
  19. Phuket would be the last place I'd go for beaches. Want beaches, go to Lanta or Phangan.
  20. I was later than that in the early 90s and don't recall any roundabouts. Plenty of multi lane expressways though. They did stop for red lights by then so probably replaced by intersections with lights. Every year when it rained for the first time drivers went around corners too fast and skidded through the barriers. After a few years the authorities didn't bother replacing them.
  21. I don't recall reading about what exactly electrocuted him. Was it the pole, or something else?
  22. For a farang, buying a lease with all it's attendant problems, abiding by the regulations and the plod's you know what, dealing with Thai staff, and competing with hundreds of other similar businesses run by Thais, it's almost designed to fail. I used to visit a well known and long established restaurant owned but not run by an Englishman near the Coconut bar, so in a prime location ( he wasn't allowed to make himself breakfast in his own kitchen ). He gave up and went home because the plod became too demanding.
  23. If tourists are the problem try Lamphun. Close enough to C M, and plenty of restaurants, Bic C mall etc.
