And so the exodus of quality expats begins. This time it's personal

If you cannot recognize a joke, I feel sorry for you. -

Yes, it was obvious. But I saw it as an opportunity for a bit of wordplay, hence the "ha" at the end. Wasn't that obvious? -

Well, which is it? Is she single? Or is she married to you? Ha. -

Almost exactly the same for me. The only difference is that it was 29 year for me instead of 30. Ha. I went there once - in 1995 - and I HATED it. I vowed never to go back there again, and I haven't. It started with the taxi from the airport, who stopped at an expensive hotel on the way to my destination after trying to convince me that MY hotel was full. I found the people there to be unfriendly (I almost got in a fight with a drunk local), and it was just generally unpleasant. Even if they paid me, I wouldn't go back there again. -
Another case of Israel luring the US into fighting its enemies. The US military has NO business being in the Middle East. It should be at home, protecting America's own borders against the ongoing invasion.

Centrum multivitamins for men watery running nose
BangkokHank replied to george's topic in Health and Medicine
It's the same for me. My nose runs most of the time, but it's especially bad when I eat. I found out recently that this runs in my family. My father suffers from this as well, and he just told me that his father did too. In fact, my grandfather used to joke that his nose runs and his feet smell (rather than his feet running and his nose smelling). Still, I find this very bothersome - and I hope to find a solution to it - a solution that doesn't involve medication. I don't think this is in any way related to vitamins because it happens to me whether I am taking vitamins or not. -
German Man Arrested After Stealing 86,000 Baht From Hotel in Patong
BangkokHank replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
When I read the headline of this article, I thought to myself, "I wonder if this is going to be one of those Germans named Mohammed?" And sure enough, it was. -
PART 2 Thai Wife Being Bullied By Family
BangkokHank replied to thefarangteacher's topic in Marriage and Divorce
Tell them that in your culture, it's normal for the girl's family to pay the dowry - so where's your money? Keep asking them for money - until they start avoiding you.- 187 replies

Mine and others' rights.
BangkokHank replied to Jan1970's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
The purpose of the deposit was to have the owner hold the condo for the person making the deposit, rather than renting it out to somebody else. The condo owner did his part. The person making the deposit did not uphold his part of the agreement, whether it was his fault or not. As such, the condo owner has every right to keep the money. He doesn't have to keep it, but he has the right to. If I were him, I would try to rent the condo out to someone else - and then keep the amount of the deposit that I had lost in the transaction with the original depositor. Under no circumstances should the condo owner lose money over the renter's inability to get a visa. -
You said "AsiaNow", but the name of this website is "ASEANNow". (ASEAN is the acronym for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations".

Great. Thanks. My phone just barely made that list. -
Pita most preferred politician to become Thai PM in NIDA poll
BangkokHank replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Evidence that he is the WEF candidate? He spoke at one of the WEF conferences some time back, so he's definitely known to them - and part of the club. Anyway, there is really nothing to debate. Either he will eventually become Prime Minister, or he won't. If he doesn't, I was wrong. If he does (and I think he will), AND he starts implementing the tyrannical plans of the WEF (as certain other WEF candidates like Trudeau, etc., are doing), then you'll know that I was right. I would be happy to be wrong about this. -
I will be going to Vietnam for the month of January. I would like to be able to use my phone while I'm there for using Grab, internet, etc. I have seen these "virtual" SIM cards for international travel advertised on the internet. How do these things work? Are they a suitable replacement for just getting a local SIM card on arrival at my destination? Thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions.

Pita will eventually be installed as Prime Minister because he is the candidate of the World Economic Forum. -
The plight of commodity investors.
BangkokHank replied to swissie's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Actually there are ETFs now for individual physical commodities. For example, PHYS is the physical gold ETF; PPLT is physical platinum; CEF is actually a combination of physical gold and physical silver (2/3 gold and 1/3 silver, as I recall); SIVR and PSLV, physical silver; etc. With oil, however, it is not so easy to get an ETF that tracks the oil price because oil is traded on futures markets, which creates the problem that you mentioned regarding carrying costs, contango, etc. I experienced this problem when I thought buying oil was a sure bet when it was trading in the low teens some years ago, but I could not find a way to simply bet on the price movement. The lesson there: Stay away from investing in things like that. -
They want to pay you $191 to take the kill shot? Up to you, but I wouldn't take it for a million dollars. What would I do with the money if I'm dead? Oh, wait, they want YOU to pay? Why should you pay to kill yourself? You can do that for free.

I am a resident here. Just not a "permanent" resident. Who said that I think that the people at the clinic don't know that they charge foreigners more? The receptionist told ME that they practice dual pricing, so of course they are aware of it. You also say to go with the flow and accept the things I cannot change. So first I have to see if I can change it. And if I can't, only then will I accept it - however reluctantly. But if nobody complains, then they certainly won't change.
