Kasikorn bank, Lotus Mittrapharp, Khon Kaen. I completely confused the young lady teller as I gave her my second account passbook to update with my new passport details. I had already done my main account a month ago but didn't have the 2nd account passbook with me at the time. In the end she rang the helpline and I explained it to them and they explained to me that it is the account holder that has the passport number in their details, not each account. So when I did it previously that covered all my accounts. All I've got to do now is to remember that in ten years time so I don't make a pillock of myself again.

Wasn't she Ros Altmann who was all in favour of expats getting the uprated pension, until the government of the day bought her off with elevation to the HoL?

That still doesn't make us responsible for them. Perhaps a lower birth rate and less corruption in their home countries would help.- 28 replies

Not the passport you opened the account with, the passport the bank currently knows about. I renewed my passport earlier this year and told my bank. So it's my new one they would need, not the original. But if you have not told the bank about any passport renewal then yes, the one you originally used.

Fastest mail delivery service Thailand to UK?
lungbing replied to stefan2519's topic in General Topics
My life certificate back to the UK by registered post to Wolverhampton took 14 days. That was 2 days from Khon Kaen to BKK, 10 days sitting at Bangkok, 1 day flight to UK, 1 day to deliver to Wolverhampton. Cost 250 baht. (replaced ' EMS' by 'registered post') -

HSBC to Kasikorn 5 quid. I always transfer in the morning here and usually it's in my Kasikorn account late the same afternoon, weekends and bank holidays excepted. -
I renewed my UK passport earlier this year. I live in Khon Kaen and used an agent called Thai Visa Express, soi 15 Pattaya. For 10,000 baht they did all the work including colour copying the old passport, going to and from Bangkok, paying by their credit card etc etc. I only had to fill in the application, which they also provide, and supply the photos. If you have not changed much in the past ten years the photos do not need counter-signing. I am not associated with them in any way but as a satisfied customer I would highly recommend them. You should apply immediately after doing your next 90 day report which gives you 90 days before needing your passport again. But I'm sure they would return it if needed. But they need it back to collect the new one.

What do you believe happens to you when you die?

I like Ricky Gervais's answer to this. He said that you know what the 3.4 billion years were like before you were born, well it's like that after you're dead. -

For EMS they wanted 1,000 baht. It went registered at 250 baht. -
And then along came Jones. You've got to be getting on a bit to get that one.

UK pensions. Is this the right forum?
lungbing replied to Gandtee's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
My pension didn't arrive last month. I rang them, it took 35 minutes before they answered, the worst part being not the crap music but the voice thanking me for waiting repeated every minute. Once answered the lady asked me a few security questions and then emailed me a new LC form. She said the pension would be reinstated but it took a further week before it arrived. My completed LC has apparantly now been sitting at Bangkok airport for the past 10 days on its way to Wolverhampton. -
I went off Libreoffice when I found on my machine a file detailing the hyphenation rules for the Zulu language. And I'm sure I installed English only. Now I use Softmaker Office. It's free and you get the equivalent of Word, Excel and Powerpoint. No doubt there is some obscure function that isn't available, but for the little use I make of it Softmaker Office is fine. I had loads of trouble getting rid of MS Office, it didn't want to go.
