Went today to CW for my first retirement extension, non-O from the UK. Absolutely no issues at all. A 13:00 appointment* and my passport stamped and good to go by 13:45. I presented the following; TM7 application form Copy of passport photo page and all stamped pages - they didn't keep any other than the photo page and last entry page. Copy of non-O e-visa TM30 Apartment lease 3 additional forms they gave me to fill in (overstay acknowledgement, some other things, didn't actually read them) Bank letter** Bank statement (I gave 12 months where 3 should have been enough but why invite issues)** Copies of bank book account page and last page showing a transaction today** *Highly recommend to make an appointment, easy to do online, as you get let in first and before the masses waiting for a queue ticket. ** Bank documents obtained form Kasikorn downstairs. Took maybe 30 minutes and I was impressed that she provided the copies of the bank book without me asking - that was next on my list to go and get done. Today's transaction was the Grab taxi I took to get there - I had given 100 baht to deposit but she gave it back, "no need", at least that saved 1 more signature and one less thing for her to do. I then went for a re-entry permit. TM8 from the information desk, queue ticket and then counter C2. That actually took 90 minutes as I had to fetch and fill the form, get the ticket and it was rammed with people. But I was already happy with my initial success so didn't really care. Could easily save time with some preparation and I think there is some speedy online appointment version that can be done, but I'll worry about that in May 2025. Oh ,and some nice Ramen for lunch downstairs.

New Visa Exemption Rules?
Upnotover replied to cjinchiangrai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes, but you can see why some (airlines?) might be confused by the opening statement; UK ordinary passport holders can travel to Thailand without visa for no longer than 30 days (maximum 2 times/year). -
Tourist e-visa online
Upnotover replied to Jack1988's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes. Maybe better to buy a fully refundable ticket or even a cheap real ticket and bin it later. Yes Yes. They are really trying to put off tourists it seems. No idea, just say anything reasonably credible. -

No, not in Pattaya. Bangkok, Ubon yes, maybe some more, I have the idea it's down to staff awareness rather than anything else as I have experienced the first line staff having to seek advice from above to get it working. -

Yes in 7-11 and several other stores around Bangkok and beyond. Mine is using a Wise debit card so its the only way to pay using that in 7-11. The wprd "tap" and gesturing with the phone seems to be enough to get them to activate the reader. Really anywhere accepting contactless (as opposed to QR) payments should accept. -
Wise to Krungthai
Upnotover replied to Gecko's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
You don't need to go in. It is clear what has occurred. Next time just tell the sender to send you THB. -

Ah yes, thanks for that. So it appears the OP was actually sent EUR which would explain the missing amount. -

Sounds like Wise wasn't involved at all. They don't send anything, simply transfer the quoted amount locally. Weird thread. -

You "saw" the Wise transaction document? Can you not see it again and check the numbers on it? -

Wise is usually very clear about what you will receive before you send. And your account wil have a clear record of what charges were taken from any money you send. Do you not have these records?- 25 replies

Finn Mobile - slow with xiaomi note
Upnotover replied to CrossBones's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
It is but speed varies a lot. I am on True 5G, Redmi Note 13, and right now am getting 17.4Mbps. Most times it is much faster than that, usually 60-100. edit - Just tested again, 68.5! -

Not renewing extension of 1 year visa
Upnotover replied to bluebanana's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Apply for single non-O in 'my country' before you come back and you'll get a 90 day entry. That way you avoid onward ticket issues and also avoid 1 trip to immigration. Then extend that in the last 30 days. You'll be basically starting over so all the original requirements, financial, etc, will apply. -
Least Money in Bank.

No. Krungsri (Bank of Ayudhya) is the yellow one, Krungthai is blue. -

Your debit card account IS an ordinary account. A current account has a cheque book which is not what you want. When your debit card expires if you don't replace it you won't get charged for a new one, dunno if you can cancel an unexpired card. Yes, you can use Wise to top up your account, that's what I did. -
Least Money in Bank.
Upnotover replied to NoshowJones's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I reckon that is correct. I had an inactive Kasikorn account which was below 2000 they then started taking a 50 baht fee each month. It got down to about 500 and I put 2000 in and the monthly fee then stopped. I made sure there was minor activity on it and resurrected the account when I visited the branch. -
