  1. We are aware that from certain parts of the world buying a round is an alien concept ???? not so much in Europe
  2. Chips and bacon When the potatoes run out Eggs and bacon When my wife does not want to cook bacon Eggs on toast When my wife does not want to cook bacon or eggs Strawberry jam on toast When none of the above suit Banana muffins and coffee I have decaf coffee most mornings as drink a lot of coffee
  3. There are times when prominent forum posters contrive to give the impression they barely scratched the surface, this is one of them ????
  4. I guess not a bell ringer then joining in the spirit of fun ☺️
  5. Well that is amazing because we have many people posting how full and busy the government hospitals are, even complaining about the wait time! I can think of at least 15 occasions when government hospitals have been required for my immediate family. Births being 50% of that ????
  6. While I sympathize with your family as you state they had no alternative but to go private, and in BKK, there are hundreds of thousands who do get the service and care they require in the government system.
  7. Too many are accustomed to the western ideal everything taken care of by the hospital. Where possible in Thai government hospitals is it not prudent to have staff take care of the medical side and family take care of the non medical stuff? It is after all a 35 baht healthcare system!
  8. Well given the usual age differential they may be running a bit low on cash approaching the century mark!
  9. Enjoyed years of good healthcare in the UK, limited exposure to Thai healthcare but government hospitals for family pregnancies, and other assorted fixes appear to get the job done ok. So no matter where they stand in world rankings so far both good enough for me ????
  10. I am hoping by the time I arrive at death it will come as a release rather than some desperate need to cling on to life
  11. I have friend in a similar situation, invited him to visit, but ever since he flew back to the UK from OZ sitting on a rubber ring to protect an abscess on his butt long haul has lost its appeal ???? so don't leave it too long get spending
  12. Yes just chill, I too think I may have had a dose of covid in the UK prior to the vaccination. I have had 5 tests for covid since the vaccination and all have come up clear, a good sign I think as have not taken any extra ordinary precautions, and did travel on a full aircraft from LON to BKK.
  13. With the two door I didn't like 'bench' seats for the rear passengers I wanted rear seats with seatbelts. So when an old diesel 4 door Ford ranger became available at 70k in need of some TLC we took a chance. Repairs are very cheap in rural Thailand, ok Ford parts a bit more expensive than Isuzu or Toyota, we replaced the fuel pump, shocks, head gasket, cleaned the aircon and fitted new compressor, new timing belts, couple on dents straightened and some respray touch up ???? cost about 40k It has been fun doing it up and set of tyres, maybe a new windscreen shortly will see us running around in an old but reasonable vehicle, for about 140k. Given it will work on the farm, and do family trips to the shops I think will give value for money.
  14. I got my first and this far only Pfizer jab Feb of this year in the UK. My doctor in Thailand is keeping an eye out for any spare Moderna that might pop up shortly or longly. Personally don't feel at risk at all just back from a school vaccination call where my son rec'd probably his one and only Pfizer jab. Plenty of folks milling around. Been to 3 large temple gatherings in the last couple of weeks ???? I would relax and take it easy but that's just me ????
  15. Of course they will, old people recollect the good times, the not so good times are written off as character building ????
  16. Very narrow minded, selfish, inconsiderate post where there are children from a previous marriage involved.
  17. Domestic travel will at least provide some base income to allow places to open. Once things are open international tourists will arrive if restrictions are fully removed, it's not all going to just happen like opening the doors of a January sale!!
  18. Thread is not about loaning money is about being a guarantor
  19. This is easy, difficult for a Thai to just outright refuse, so she asks you, expecting a firm no! Then goes back to ex telling him she asked but you refused. Face saved no guarantee.
  20. I tend to agree, alternatively, who is better at understanding and dealing with Thai bureaucracy than Thai people. Picked up my two year car licence today, chauffeur driven, set out at 7am, call at doctor's for certificate, back with license just after lunch. A big thanks to my wife and friends who arranged all Just lucky I guess ????
  21. And accepting that is a real good starting point to base any future expectations ????
  22. Not at all, as, I described, you will have a problem sure if you go with pre conceived thoughts. Occasionally yes but not tonight in fact can't remember the last barking interruption but does happen. I think given time in a village such as this chickens are grabbed by stray dogs which tends to see the problem addressed.
  23. Sleep well on the 'edge' of the village, as someone posted in another thread no real valuables to steal ???? it's only 7:30pm and all I can hear faintly is my son's phone on Tv mode as I sit outside, no traffic, family homes in the vicinity maybe 40 meters away closing up for the evening, as I let my supper settle, browse the forum, ponder the days events and consider tomorrow. Never felt unsafe here in Thai countryside.
