  1. I have one bank in Thailand which has 850K total. I use my Revolut bank for transactions, where possible. I transfer GBP to Thai Baht on the app at a cost of approx 30Bht per 1k GBP, or it did last April. As most of the places I use, have the VISA sign in the window, I'm good to go 24/7
  2. 40K/month!? I have difficulty spending 10K?month. So how, you may ask? When I first came to Thailand over 30 years ago, I took some time to get to know people. I got married, and we are still together. I invested in a smallish business which pays reasonably and supports 5 adults. I don't take from the business, that's for the family. However, I suppose I do to an extent, as I don't pay rent, water or electricity. Most of my food I buy myself. 2 days per week my wife and I go out for a meal and social evening. The business will not make any of us rich, but it is a good living without having to scrimp and watch every penny. So, I have no complaints. The business keeps me busy, so no reason to spend time propping up a bar, which is a big problem for many. The initial investment has paid for itself. I don't have to pay taxes here, as I don't bring in enough to warrant that. Income from my UK pensions is invested and this will eventually be passed on to my son and his family. Did I do it all wrong, quite honestly, like Frank said, 'I did it my way,' and pleased I did.
  3. I have seriously thought of changing to MAC OS. The only thing which stops me is the hassle of finding good replacement software I use on Microsoft. The cost involved would also be an off put.
  4. I had a similar thing about two years ago. 27K Baht removed from my bank, and I knew it was not me. Got a statement from the local bank and it turned out to be Deliveroo in London. Rang the head office. They said it would take about three weeks and to call back about then. 7 days later the money was back in my account. KrungThai Bank. First class service, I was impressed.
  5. If recognised as a sport, will there be a recognised kit, like shirt and shorts?🫠 I can see the next gambling den raid being a rare game, of turning the Craps and Roulette wheel tables over, showing the sport of Poker on the reverse.
  6. Great if you are close enough. My ride would be ten Km resulting in a very sore rear end, so I'll continue using a taxi.
  7. Well done. I have a box of medals you can come and help yourself from.
  8. And the usual nutter gives it the thumbs down. If you can't reply with something constructive, why do you bother!?
  9. The present UK government is about as much use as T.I.T.s on a fish. If any one of them had the brains of a rocking horse, they would still be stupid. Their stupidity knows no bounds, and we all know there is no cure for stupid. Give it 18 month to 2 years max and the country will be in debt beyond any redemption.
  10. Will this fire result in compensation to private or business people? Or is this going to be another case of losers weepers?
  11. Safety checks!!?? We all know the reaction to that question!
  12. Another case of every victim loses out.
  13. Sarcasm can so easily misunderstood!
  14. So! The usual practice of GREED in operation then. What a surprise!
  15. Give the lady opposite the North Eastern Uni a try. Always found her to be professional and fairly priced.
  16. I thought they were already doing that! Taking the results of Chiang Mai air pollution into consideration, I don't think I'm far wrong
  17. A Bangkok based accountant would not be much use, unless they were specifically knowledgable and familiar with UK tax regulations. I would consider that to be skating on very thin ice.
  18. It appears someone has a down on anything and everything posted. Thumbs down every time.
  19. Not a 'Fact' at all. If a British police officer requires armed assistance, it is not very far away. Not a very well known fact, but almost all police cars carry arms.
  20. Maybe not, but parking your boat on the beach, being put up in a hotel and getting paid for the privilege, goes a long way to gaining said passport.
  21. I have venous insufficiency in my right leg. Looking at the photo and you saying it has been like this for 3 years now, I would say it is not venous insufficiency. If such were the case, it would show much darker than the photo and would not have taken that long to show as such. Also, if it were V/I, the legs would be swollen just below the knee to about two thirds way down to the ankle. If you are worried about it, as Sheryl says, consult a Vascular surgeon or phlebologist.
  22. Eenie and Meany have very good friends, it's Miney and Mo one needs to watch out for!
  23. I found "MyTello" quite by chance, and for me it works for the few land line numbers I call. @.5BHT/minutes for land lines to the UK, and 1.5 BHT for mobiles, its as cheep as chips. It can also be setup in the UK for callers to call internationally, although I don't have any experience of that, so no comment.
