  1. Buy yourself a UPS - fixes the issue of the 2 second black out.
  2. Just had my 2nd booster jab. Bangkok Hospital Hat Yai vaccination center is in the car park. Pfizer jabs available 1pm to 4pm every Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Just walk in with your existing vaccination certificate and passport - no charge.
  3. Would you really put on a t-shirt identifying who you were? Maybe a false flag, someone doesn't like competition from Big-C.
  4. All religion is nonsense. Religion is only one facet of the issues in the South. The primary grievance is the issue of recognition. The 2006 report of the National Reconciliation Commission was accepted by the Thaksin government but rejected by the Privy Council, the stumbling block being the recognition of Pattani-Malay (Yawi) as a working language in the region, Prem Tinsulanonda stated "The country is Thai and the language is Thai" so an opportunity for peace was lost.
  5. Same the World over, banks are quick to implement rate hikes on their borrowers, but slow to pass any benefit to their savers.
  6. Well that's because it is an insurgency, an armed rebellion against an occupying force, no one has declared a jihad. This is a dispute about recognition, recognition that the Pattani States have their own history, culture, language and religion. A recognition that the land was carved up and apportioned between British Malaya and Siam with no reference or asking the people that live there and a rejection of the policy of 'Thaification'. Before anyone suggests I condone the violence, no I don't, but I at least understand why the people are angry. .
  7. That's why my master password is a combination of the make, colour and registration plate of the first family car I can remember as a child. One of those things that's stuck in my head more than 60 years, so even if I got Alzheimer's there's a chance I might remember it.

  11. I left my home city of Birmingham almost 50 years ago, first to study, then after graduation to go work. I've spent 40 years working on projects around the world, I get back to the UK maybe once a year, though with Covid it's almost 3 years since my last trip. Growing up in Birmingham in the 60s and 70s was grim, Birmingham now is a far nicer place to live. It's now a clean, vibrant city, the city centre is a good place for a night out, nice restaurants, good pubs, places to sit out and enjoy a pint on a summer's evening. The old canals that were full of shopping trollies and garbage have been cleaned up and become pleasant walkways around the city. The city has always been a melting pot, there were West Indian, Indian and Pakistani children at school with me in the 60s. Immigrants from the former colonies just followed in the wake of Jewish and Irish families before them. I've never had an problem with Birmingham's racial diversity, I think it adds to the city's appeal. But diversity no doubt it comes as more of a shock to people who grew up in largely white towns and villages. Sure there are areas of Birmingham that are less pleasant to live, but they're all better than they were. No one would want to turn the clock back 50 years in Brum.
  12. Maybe next trip to the UK I might switch to my UK address and get a card. Not worth the hassle at the moment.

  15. A fee increase of 0.05 to 0.06% depending on currency pair - hardly a deal breaker
  16. That's a historical legacy I suspect
  17. The debit card isn't available in Thailand. I get the following screen on the app when I click on cards. .
  18. I think Estuary is an awful user interface, the original default was Confluence which I think is more intuitive; Confluence is still available as an alternative.
