Anyone Else Finding AseanNow Almost Unusable Recently❓
KhunBENQ replied to Skeptic7's topic in Forum Support Desk
The topic has been started before the long outage (about six days). After coming back it felt very slow yesterday. This morning it has much improved for me. Cross your fingers it will persist. -
Pattaya Police Hold Massive Beach Patrol to Boost Tourists’ Confidence
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Where did they find a jacket fitting the huge belly of the "expat commander in chief" -
Obviously not you. Can't count how often I visited a Pattaya Gogo incl Paradise. And no trouble in Paradise and elsewhere since 2004. If your not drunk as a skunk, check your bin and behave like a human, a Gogo it one of the safest places to be in Pattaya.

AIS Fibre and 3BB unite to boost Thailand’s home Internet industry
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This country will sooner or later be owned by a handful of billionaire clans. After mobile operators now Internet providers. Not to speak of retail business. Never good for competition. -
Just opened and good to be back.

Through years I was quite satisfied with their domestic flights between BKK and KKC. But since opening after COVID no flight was in time. Rescheduling twice(!) on the morning of the flight. Last experience: Booked arrival KKC at 14:55. Few days later rescheduled to 15:55. And in the end landed about 16:30. Getting dark on the way home which I hate.

The mystery since 2005 (end of 2004) when it was built. 2005: https://aseannow.com/topic/45177-what-is-this-building/ 2018: https://aseannow.com/topic/1049357-pattaya-castle-thappraya-pattaya-do-you-know-what-is-this-building/ Some pretty convincing hint on owner of "asiarooms.com" and German TUI group. Hard to swallow, but there seems no big thing behind. Built as a private house by someone with big funds and his special taste. When I saw this thread I thought hard where had you been reading about it? Ah! It was a forum site called thaivisa.com

I had the certificate from the German consul in Pattaya in English language, nicely stamped and "folded"/tucked together with the pension statements in German (issued July 10th). Presented at Khon Kaen on October 3rd this year. Explained why there are two separate pensions listed and accepted, 20 minutes all done. So I can only hope that this new harassment doesn't spread. (still prepared to use the 12 monthly transfers method)

220 volt NON USB speakers for desktop pc/laptop - help anyone?
KhunBENQ replied to cliveshep's topic in Audio Visual AV
Just look around the typical electronic shops and you will find sets of amplifiers connected to mains and two speakers. Input through the audio output plug at your PC. Very basic and cheap stuff often less than 500 Baht. Not for the audiophile but good enough for typical sound applications at the PC. -
Forecasts say max temperatures below 30 C from Friday and no rain.

Up here in the northeast it was indeed a pleasant cool night. Rain stopped a while ago and rice harvest in full swing. Last week in Pattaya still some real hot humid days.

90 Day Reporting Grace Period ?
KhunBENQ replied to NickyLouie's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Correct. 7 days "AFTER" is easy misunderstood. Due date is day 1 of 7. So from the 10th the last report in person would be due on 16th. And Sat, Sun also counted. Due on Monday, last day is Friday. That was the rule over the years and I haven't noticed any change. -
Thailand could extend visa-free entry from 30 to 60 days
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Whom do they want to attract? For typical holidaymaker 30 days is enough. How many working people can do more than 30 days in Thailand? For snowbirds fleeing winter, 60 days is not enough. Still the main hurdle are the expensive flights. A mate arrived yesterday for 3 weeks from Germany with wife. Paid 2500 Euro for the couple. -
retirement visa question
KhunBENQ replied to Joinaman's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You seem to refer to a one year extension (not visa). And the renewal date keeps the same by re-entering with the permit. So in March the usual procedure for extension. -

New ATM fee???
KhunBENQ replied to Pilot3Boz's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn and SCB that I use (don't know the whole list). Kasikorn has the easiest/most convenient procedure, followed by Bangkok Bank. SCB is a bit annoying having to enter your registered phone number AND the code sent. -
Wise (TransferWise) Verification
KhunBENQ replied to connda's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Last Friday initiated a 2k Euro transfer, 76k Baht will be on my account (same name) today. Same routine procedure since years. Done from the app and no facial scan. -
Highway Collapses on Sukhumvit Soi 64/1 in Bangkok [video]
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Just seen a report that the driver will be prosecuted for driving an overloaded vehicle (among other). -
1) seems that I visited the only hotel in Thailand that very carefully checks for visa/extension and properly registers guest with immigration. 2) my motorcycle rent always does a picture of my passport. Why the fuss with paper copy? 3) hotel will be interested in your ID in case you do the runner without paying or devastating the room. Only exception are those shorttime rents 😙

"Heng explained that the brake failed, and he decided to accelerate and turn the vehicle to avoid blocking the road, which ultimately resulted in the vehicle overturning. The recurring brake issue, despite several repair attempts, finally led to this accident, reported KhaoSod." Leaves me without words.
