  1. You have a bank account with 400k+? Guess you left out the obvious requirements like the marriage status certificate from the amphoe (district office)? (kor ror 22?). Photos from the house etc.pp. Indeed very confusing requirements like photo with wife on TM7?
  2. Seems another ridiculous transcript/naming. Not even all knowing Google can find this. How much developed is medical helicopter transport in Thailand? How often have you seen one?
  3. Delivery driver fiddling with his phone/GPS while riding. What can you say?Commonplace, everyday, everywhere.
  4. And I can tell you that there are plans for another one just parallel to the existing. Why do you think he talks about completion by 2029. https://opendevelopmentmekong.net/news/thailand-plans-to-build-bridge-linking-with-laos-across-mekong-river/
  5. Have three browsers in use on the PC. FF used mainly, Chrome and Brave occasionally. Can't remember last time that one of them crashed. Now on mobile using Chrome just for being lazy to install anything else.
  6. Only in Pattaya. More reporters and tabloids than newsworthy events????

? Could you elaborate your valuable contribution.

Can't get far. Just that ฝัก stands for a gourd/pumpkin. หมู is pork, no question. Is it the name of a dish?
  9. Random computerized calls. There were more than one warnings about calls from certain country codes. Particularly for this 617 code. Thai sites full of that. Also random calls from Bangkok numbers. It's a pest analog to mail spam. Your number: if they don't say sawatdee but call by your name and talk in English then! it's time for concern ????
  10. Haven't followed the lengthy discussion about nationality of the deceased. YES of course, he was an Austrian citizen (from German language sources). And I thought it was just a bargirl joke that they can't distinct
  11. It would not cost a fortune to install floodlights at this frequented U-turn. Just for a start. A direct entry to the MAKRO secured with traffic lights? Too much.
  12. After years I did another attempt to find unsweetened condensed milk. Gave up. Sweetened, sweetened AND mixed with palm oil (another "healthy" highlight) or completely from palm oil (faking). So I remain tied to coffee mate. Made of: palm oil ☹️
  13. I used this U-turn yesterday morning (as so often). No more remains to be seen. Allowed speed is 90 km/h (highway 12). And speeding way above is not rare. Traffic is fast as no lights or stops for many kilometers. Even in daylight it's a challenge to pass the two oncoming lanes. There is no special lighting at this U-turn. Signage and some flash light. Good enough for a careful driver.
  14. Absolutely crazy. Diesel is already favored and gasoline users pay the price. Tell that to the "environmental activists" in the west, a country that promotes cheaper Diesel. In Germany " old" Diesel cars are banned from the inner cities. Old like 6 years old.
  15. Yes. From the central intersection Mittraphap and HW 12 it is 22 km northbound on the road. Google estimates 20 minutes. From the northern ring exit onto Mittraphap it's a about 14 km, 11 min estimate. Distances include the detour for the U-turn. Location: 16.5888,102.8185 https://goo.gl/maps/uwYGgrBfTQVM8TFW7
  16. The usual misconception. Yes, £4 via NatWest and the fees for the correspondence banks stay hidden. It's almost two decades that I used SWIFT. 1.50 EUR for Postbank (Germany). I was delighted that it is so cheap until I learned that it is just the fee to forward it to Deutsche Bank from where the real drain starts.
  17. None, never and will never happen on such short distance. UTP is extremely quiet. Two flights today (Dubai and Macau). On some days flights to/from Phuket and Ko Samui. That's about it.
  18. On September 9 the sun rises in Buriram at about 84° E. So the axis of the gates is 6° from the E-W axis. No idea what the particular magic is here.
  19. The full article describes sun >rise< and sun >set< through the gates. So seems you have to watch from one side or the other. "Each year, the sun sets directly through the 15 gates of Phanom Rung Temple twice, between March 5 to 7 and October 6 to 8. The sun rises through the gates on April 3 to 5 and September 8 to 10." not equinox dates btw
  20. Imagine it's rainy season and you see thick clouds only ???? I haven't seen a proper sunrise for days.
  21. No idea why the link was not in the OP. So again a U-turn involved. Cheap and deadly.

    Very hot fridge.

This is completely normal. Fridges here are different from what is usual in the west. A fan? Never had a fridge here with a fan on the outside. These fridges are completely sealed. Put a western style fridge with an open backside (compressor, cooling coils) and soon you will have a nice zoo of insects/pests of all kinds nesting there.
  23. It is. What would a typical SWIFT transfer be? Send USD to a Thai bank account based on THB. So SWIFT fee plus exchange fee by the Thai bank (0.25%, max 500? THB).
  24. The interesting point here: it gives an idea what big costs are involved when using the SWIFT system. In most cases these costs are not transparent when using bank to bank transfers.
  25. Much ado about nothing. Who sends USD from US to a USD account in Thailand Careful reading helps a lot:
