BANGKOK: -- Srisuwan Janya, secretary-general of the Thai Constitution Protection Association, on Monday (Sept 4) filed a petition with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) against national police chief Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda and other officials, accusing them of neglect of duty in their handling of the hit-and-run case against Red Bull heir Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya.

Apart from Pol Gen Chakthip, other officials named in the petition included Pol Lt Gen Sanit Mahathaworn, the metropolitan police chief, Seksan Bangsomboon, chief of the prosecution at the Bangkok South Criminal Litigation Office, Supol Yutithada, a former senior prosecutor, and Rucha Krairiksh, the prosecutor handling the case.

Five years ago, Vorayuth allegedly crashed his Ferrari sports car into Pol Sgt-Maj Vichien Klanprasert, a traffic police officer attached to Thong Lor police station, on Sukhumvit road and dragged his body for over 100 metres until he dropped onto the road and he drove his car straight to his mansion in Soi Thong Lor without stopping his car to look at or help the policeman.

I am sure neglect had absolutely nothing to do with it. He should have accused them of what really happened, taking fat sums of money to purposely let the whole thing slide by. And it was all going so well, until the pesky media and social media, who just wont be silenced no matter how hard Prayut tries, made a song and dance about it.

I wish him success though, as I will laugh fit to burst if any of them end up in jail for helping "Boss" avoid it.

It all happened under the Yingluck government.

It is not mentioned in the article, how much Srisuwan Janya want from the pie of  Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda and other officials, to withdraw this petition. Bad investigation by Thai PBS.

Nice try, guy, but the only way there would ever be any meaningful action on this is if some non-Thai super famous person called attention to it.  Maybe Angelina Jolie making a movie about it might move the needle.

Plus all the other (now what is the word pm,s will do) and started way back when, without an elected gov in sight.

This has to be the best bit of news, during my 5yrs in Thailand . . . a high-ranking official taking strong, brave and conscience-driven action against the Vorayuth-smeared police. Whether the RTP and/or prosecution lawyers were guilty of pocketing BE's or typical Thai lethargy we may never know, but that there was negligence is beyond all doubt and I have to admire SJ for taking what, for modern-day Thailand, is a refreshingly different stand. Question is, will the NACC have the guts to process the petition with the seriousness that it merits? . . . that's where the bottomless pit awaits this initiative, I fear.

This is one thing you definitely cannot lay at her door, even if we would like to!!  It all actually happened in a traditional climate of Thai cultural corruption, Sakdina and blatant greed, as usual, letting rich Hiso's get away with everything up to and including murder.
