Need new ceiling Fans - Mitsubishi vs. Hatari

Hi guys.

I need some new ceiling fans and want to ask the experts about the reliability of Mitsubishi.

I already have a couple of Hatari ceiling and wall fans (old type without remote), but they need regularly repairs (esp. capacitor and the little swing-motor).

So, are Mitsus worth the five-six hundred Bahts more, when it comes to build quality, or is it just a myth from former times?

One big "Pro" for the newer Hatari fans, is their remote-control which can not just control the speed, but also the "swing angle" in three steps.

But I have absolutely no experience with these newer Hataris and their build quality.

Or should I even consider another brand?

we've had Mitsubishi ceiling fans in operation since we moved into our home in 2003...reliable with no hassles, wired wall mounted control with 3 speeds and on/off swing control...the Hatari floor fans we've had usually last 4 - 5 years before they fail...

The remote control on the Hatari model I have failed after about 3 years. Non-remote control ones have been running fine for 5-10 years, although they start to squeek and creek more as time passes. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another non-remote Hatari fan.

I should add, that my fans are running at least 12h/day continuously, some even longer.

Almost all of my Hatari failed within a year with a broken "swing-motor" (the stand fans doesn't have this separate little motor).

Seems to be a common problem, because when we visited a bar last time, the staff used a long stick, to push the ceiling fans into the wanted direction.

The swing function has failed in our floor standing Hatari so we are now all MrKen. A bit pricey but the quietest fans I've ever seen, they are also DC so use about 1/10 the power and have 6 speed controllers. They also look good

Hatari is junk. Go with Mitsubishi.

I have a Hatari industrial floor model 18 inch fan.,it lost the highest speed in 6 months, and does not start immediately anymore.

In 3 years in Thailand, I have had 3 Hatari fans, 2 are in the garbage, and 1, the 18 inch standup floor model, is going bad.

I have had very good luck with a table model fan called Series, I got at Makro superhighway in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

I recently bought Mitsubishi ceiling fans for 3500 baht each at Home Pro. Installation is 1350 baht per fan. Much better than Hatari. Don't go for the models with decorative lights and all that jazz - they look good, but don't really generate enough breeze.

If one is to have a gypsum ceiling with the grid support. what is the best way to mount ceiling fans? My ceiling has not been installed yet so can do the prep work for fan mounting.

Mitsubishi Fan in my Livingroom works sience 7 Years without issue. Meanwhile the noisy Hataris in the Sleepingrooms replaced after 5 Years with....Mitsubishi. A bit expensiv, but worth it.

Just google Mr Ken Fan and you'll get the website but I found it of little use. Look at "google images" to actually see the fans. I have a DC ceiling fan and love it.

When the HomePro guys come to install the Mitsubishi fans, they'll have the brackets which will clamp on to the grid above the false gypsum ceiling.

I've ordered them from Lazada today, Mitsubishi CY18-ST, 18", 2266 Baht each.

I will do the Installation by myself.

I usually just mount a wooden plate or board on the opposite, "roof side" of the ceiling

We got our ceiling people to add  large (200mm) steel plates to the places we were going to install the fans, and the electrician to run switched line, neutral, and earth to the same place MrKen fans have all three connections. You can use wood blocks but then they can get eaten.

I've just installed 8 fans myself, all onto steel plates
