Nokia has confirmed it will launch a 3G version of the iconic Nokia 3310 mobile phone in Thailand.

HMD Global, which holds the rights to the Nokia brand name, confirmed that the updated version of the Nokia 3310 will be available in Thailand from mid October and will cost 1,790 baht.

News that the Nokia 3310 would launch in Thailand leaked earlier this week, when it was revealed the 3G version of the handset would be showcased at the Thailand Mobile Expo.

In February HMD Global released a 2.5G version of the Nokia 3310. However, at the time the company said that the phone would not be released in Thailand, due to the fact that it would only support 2G networks.

Thailand, like many countries is in the process of winding down its 2G network infrastructure in favour of 3G, high speed 4G and eventually 5G.
