I have heard that foreigners will not be permitted in the vacinity of the funeral when services are being performed.

Is this true?

Not to worry. You will be allowed to pay your respects at the low volume bars and nightclubs.

Yes, last time I was in Chiang Mai one of the cheeky barstewards approached me and said: "You look like a man who could use a new suit."

I was a bit put out, I thought I was looking particularly dapper at the time....

Funny, I always go out wearing Fashion Disaster Casual Wear and am never approached by someone trying to sell me a suit.

(Off-topic, but I couldn't resist.)

Looks like more draconian rules have been issued with soi Cowboy ordered to close completely for 3 days over the cremation ☹

Sent from my SM-G930F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Read that today and I think this will be an example for other red light districts.

3 days: 25 to 27 October.

Didn’t the King write in his testament or say at some time prior to his death that he would’t like the mourning period to disrupt with the daily life and businesses of his citizens?
I heard that a couple of times last year, it could be just a rumor.
