UK Left-Wing Revenge Fantasy

Another left-wing revenge fantasy, brought to you by the same British TV channel who made a sick film about George Bush’s assassination The Trial of Tony Blair . :o

Thing is, Blair isn't conservative, but he isn't nearly as far left as they want him to be. Therefore, the enemy.

In the UK he is considered Conservative (the political spectrum in the UK isn't determined by bigoted religious claptrap like the abortion issue, and we as a politically civilised and mature nation have long since reached consensus on the death penalty and guns!).

The film about George Bush actually opened debate on a few issues, i enjoyed it!

Some people would say he is more conservative than a labour leader should be.

Oh pig's barf!

One could argue ad infinitum as to whether or not a film about an assassination of a sitting US President is in poor taste. (IMHO, it was, it is.)

But all that aside, that movie just plain old sucked. It was a bad movie, by all the typical standards upon which movies are judged. If that was an actual Hollywood movie, it was so bad that it would have never been released to theatres. It would have been a straight to DVD special.

Watching the trailers and prelims to the next one, it seems evident that this one will be a major leage stinker too.

Maybe they should have called it "The Blair Witch-hunt Project."

Millions get 8 days of extra holidays...12/01/07

By Macer Hall Political Editor (with thanks express)...

MILLIONS of workers are to be handed an extra eight days holiday a year.

Employers will be forced to guarantee time off for bank holidays on top of the current statutory minimum leave.

The surprise Government move, which will benefit 5.9 million workers, was cheered by the unions.

The change in the law, halting the practice where some firms count bank holidays as part of the legal minimum of 20 days off a year, was announced by the Department of Trade and Industry.

Ministers said women, part-time workers, the low-paid and people from ethnic minorities will stand to benefit most.

They will get an extra four days a year from October 1 and the remaining four days from October 2008.

Employment relations minister Jim Fitzpatrick said: “People work hard and they deserve a decent break.

“We want to make sure everyone gets the holidays they are entitled to.” :bah:

John Cridland, deputy director-general of the Confederation of British Industry, said: “This is good news for those staff who will see their annual leave increase but it will cost employers £4billion a year....NIG NOI..

Tory leader David Cameron declined to comment :D .

A party spokeswoman said: “We’re not saying anything at the moment. We are still working out the maths.” :o

“If Britain is to prosper, we need a flexible marketplace, not yet more red tape telling small business owners how to run their companies.

“This idea may sound good in theory, but in practice it is a heavy and unwarranted cost on businesses. Economic prosperity should always come first.”

“This measure is obviously good news for those workers whose employers currently include the bank holidays within their statutory entitlement,” Mr Dowling said.

TUC general secretary Brendan Barber said the move gave “millions of hard-working employees much to smile about”. He said: “Many of those who will get more time off work will be low-paid women.

The general secretary of public sector union Unison, said: “Improving the work-life balance of six million will reap enormous benefits both for workers and business and for a small price.

“Good employers will recognise and welcome this move. They will know that a well treated workforce is more productive.”

the GMB, said: “An extra eight days’ holiday for six million workers is something of a milestone that the Labour movement should be proud of.”

Holiday entitlement differs widely across the EU, with the UK and the Netherlands lowest at 28 days when public holidays are included. Greece, Austria, and Finland provide the most time off – 37, 38 and 39 days.

However workers in the United States get only 13 days a year.

George ...are you listening....yer good oil Boys NEED more Holidays to visit Thailand and spend all their their hard earned Dollars.........Dae ye HEAR....follow your buddy Tony......

George...are yo..... :D

This could be put more succinctly as:

Big government forcing one group of people to pay another group of people for not working.

Forgive me, but that sounds precisely like welfare. In America, people are slowing realizing where 40 years of the welfare state has taken us.

However workers in the United States get only 13 days a year.

This must be from some federal workers holiday schedule, again where big government takes taxpayer dollars and pays federal and state employees for not working. Talk about <deleted> value for money for the taxpaying public.

The typical American worker takes off much fewer days for holiday celebrations:

- New Years

- Memorial Day

- Independence Day

- Labor Day

- Thanksgiving & the day after

- Christmas Day

Oh, and by the way, most American workers are not compensated for the fact that their place of employment happens to be closed for business on those days.

It wasn't a hollywood film and didn't pretend to be and was designed for TV viewing. The interesting point of the film, which I think it did pretty well, was to show how quickly the media, official agencies and the public jump to blame the obvious targets (ie. Islamists) and the possible consequences.

There is no consensus regarding guns in UK - unless you are talking about the 'dictatorship of the majority' - but that isn't the same thing.
