"Look chin" machine minces worker's right hand

A factory worker in central Udon Thani caught his right hand while mincing meat for "look chin" (meatballs).

The machine completely mangled his hand and it took foundation medics two hours to free him before they could get him to hospital.

Freeing him meant dismantling parts of the machine itself.

Ek-chalit Inphuti, 30, had been working at the factory for just three months said his younger sister Noi.

She told Daily News reporters that he had been mincing pork and chicken as usual and that his rubber glove had likely got caught in the machine and dragged his arm into the mincer.

Another example of poor safety procedures...totally preventable!

Terrible.

Hard to believe that someone stuffs meat to the grinder with the bare hand (and with rubber gloves even worse).

This happened to a lady in my home town in the UK 20+ years ago - Poor safety procedures...

These 'mincers' are manufactured with guards which can be removed for cleaning.

When the guard wasn't replaced and the operator becomes 'over confident' it took just one mistake, a finger snagged in the corkscrew, and pulled in her arm to the elbow - her screams could be heard down the hight street.

An extremely horrific injury...

The Guard and a 'plunger' take care of the main issues and a 'foot switch' takes care of the emergency stop....

My meat grinder came with a plunger to push material into it and stickers warning not to use fingers.

Either way I hope the guy comes out ok.

Also wonder if the company will toss the contaminated ground meat?
