Suddenly, Office '03 has stopped working properly in Win10.

Usually, if a file is open, and you open another file it appears on top.
But now, after Win10 updates, it appears behind the previous file - so you have to toggle around to find it.

This is very annoying and time wasting!

I like Office '03 and don't want a later version.

Anyone know how to fix this problem? I've tried everything, tested it on 5 PCs, Safe Mode - everything.

Thanks

You're not the first to experience this:

MS Office won't work in Win10 - any clues?

...also, Microsoft has been failing miserably lately and pushing out bug fixes or patches that are breaking functionality or outright preventing systems from even booting. The security forums are suggesting everyone hold off applying any MS October Updates until they fix what they've posted.

The issue you've posted has been going for a while, but seems to be attributed to the lastest OS release or patches being applied.

Didn't you already get an answer to this under another name back in June?

- consensus was Office 2003 isn't compatible so upgrade.

My gosh Office 2003 stopped receiving support years ago....move on man....buy an Office 2016 key off Ebay for around $10...perfectly legal licenses as they are usually licenses uninstalled in Europe where its legal to uninstall a license and resell it.  Heck, I've been running three such licenses for over a year...they are full retail licenses...activated forever.

And if deciding to install Office 2016 while you can have two different Office versions on a computer but you will probably run into strange & intermittent problems occasionally between the operating system and Office conflicts/confusion between the two versions.

When installing a newer version uninstalling the older version first....then install the newer version.

They are just ending Office 2007 support

I started my "word career" with Word 2.0 in 1991

Yea, I started use of Word/Excel/Outlook/Access decades ago also because that's what my employers used (U.S. govt) and that's what end-up on my home computer also since employees could buy the product directly from Microsoft at a super low U.S. govt employee price of around $13...and they even mailed you a copy on DVD or you could download also.  Similar to how it works at U.S. state/local govts and at educational institutions.  Legal, full retail copies for around $13 (or less).   Now that I'm retired and can't take advantage of those offers no more I buy Office licenses off Ebay for around $10.   And my sister in the States which works for a county school system gets to load one copy free on her home computer since it can be used to work documents she brings home from work where they use Office...it the deal they have with MS.

And I was still using Office 2007 up until about two years when I switch to Office 2016 which was released in late 2015 and is identical to the Office 365 subscription version since Office 365 is nothing more than the latest version of Office renamed and sold by annual subscription.

Thanks RichCor

I figured, when I posted this, I'd get a 'Move on man, don't be so cheap, upgrade' post. Which is why I said  'I like Office '03 and don't want a later version'.

I find the later versions of Office slower and more complicated, and like '03's quick, simple, Mac style menus, but thought it worth asking to see if anyone else had any ideas

Thanks anyway
