Hi,

As I am going to Bangkok soon I wonder if there are some decent Isaan Music Pubs in Bangkok.

I have already been to Tawan Daeng at Rama 3 several times.

Did  anyone visit อีสานลำเพลิน (Isaan Lamploen)  yet?

Thanks

Carsten

There is an Issan restaurant near Grand Canal in the Don Muang area where they have guest musicians who play and sing brilliant Isaan music most nights.
Sorry I don't have more details.
My Isaan gf loved the food, music and atmosphere.

Are you talking seriously?

Yes. So far the most fun I had in Thailand was when I stayed in such a pub - Isaan music and/or Phleng phuea chiwit. In all the cities in Isaan they have pubs like this with live music, good food and a lot of people having a good time.

And for that very reason I've always been amazed that some enterprising go-go bar boss hasn't dictated an Isaan music playlist. The girls would go nuts and have a great time, with that feeding on to the customers. It would be rammed..

They're all over.  Tawandeng isn't really an Isaan Pub... but it is a hell of a lot of fun.  I have been to this place on Thanon Lat Prakhao a few times: https://goo.gl/maps/WPeA3m4NNGs (no aircon).  My girlfriend has been trying to take me to Sapadin, on Prasert-Manukitch, which she says has "really really aircon" and is supposedly very nice: https://goo.gl/maps/BCXT74zEy8q .

Sadly cafes as they are known are not all over Bangkok these days, wish they were. 10-15 years ago there were a lot, Tankay Issan Rachada was one of the best, Issan Holiday, Issan happy home, dara cafe, khean Issan, new bride cafe, loads of them, all gone. The few I have been to over the past few years have been pretty dire with poor shows and worse singers. Today more are a mix with phua cheewit and worse! they are classed as pubs or beer halls, not Issan cafes. Cafes should always have live band, mali's and proper singing dress, which is not a fat tart in jeans and a top that looks like she just got off a bus. I'd like to find out the name on the one in DM.
