Songkhla governor Dondej Pattanarat on Friday morning floated ashes of funeral flowers from a Navy ship in the sea off Koh Noo and Koh Maew.

Mourners on Thursday offered the sandalwood funeral flowers to His Majesty the late King Rama IX. They were later burnt, and a ceremony held to collect the ashes prior to the Friday morning floating ceremony.

The governor boarded HTMS Krabi, an offshore patrol vessel at 8am on Friday.

It was reported that a total of 419,149 mourners had placed funeral flowers to bid farewell to the late King at the replica of the Royal Crematorium and flower pavilions in 16 districts in the Southern province.
