Man arrested for attacking police station

By The Nation

A man suffering from a mental illness was arrested after allegedly throwing three Molotov cocktails at the Mueang Samut Prakan police station on Thursday night.

Police say Sutthinan Fungsaichonk, 39, told them after his arrest that he had been told by a voice in his head to do it.

Sutthinan said that after hearing the voice, he rode his bicycle from his house to the police station about one kilometre away.

The attack happened at 8.30pm and the man was arrested promptly by officers guarding the Samut Prakan provincial hall across the road.

The fire slightly damaged the police station’s glass front door.

Samut Prakan governor Chartchai Uthaiphan and Samut Prakan police chief Pol Maj Gen Thammanoon Traitippayapong spent about an hour interviewing the man and his mother.

Chartchai later said Sutthinan's mother said his brain had been damaged in a road accident about ten years ago. The mother said Sutthinan started talking to himself three years ago but she could not afford to keep taking him to hospital for treatment.

Police are arranging for him to see a psychiatrist at the Police Hospital before deciding whether to press charges against him.

It must have been the same voice that an ex twitter employee heard last night when they disconnected trumps twitter account for 11 minutes. The world is so much of a better place when this voice speaks.
