Floating body found during krathong coin hunt

A Myanmar man who was collecting coins from krathong on Saturday morning was shocked to see a floating body on the Chao Phraya River near a pier in Phra Pradaeng district in Samut Prakan.

 

Pol Captain Thirasak Chaimanee, deputy inspector of Phra Pradaeng police station, said the man was identified as Wirapoj Santiwimarnmake, 42.

 

He was found floating face-dong at a pier in front of factory on Soi Suksawad 45 in Tambon Bang Khuru. There were signs of physical injury on his face and body. Cash amounting to Bt830, a mobile phone, an ATM card, an ID card and a driving licence were found on him.

 

Warin Thammada, 38, a worker at the factory, told police that a Myanmar man, who appeared shocked, ran to her to tell her that he spotted a body at the pier. The Myanmar man he was collecting krathong floats at the pier to look for coins inside when he reached for a krathong, he spotted the body.

 

The body was sent for an autopsy at the Police Hospital.
