Cycling Tour of Northern Thailand

I am just setting out on a cycling tour for two weeks starting and ending at my home in Chiang Mai.  You can follow along here: baldbrady.wordpress.com.

 

The link shows my planned route, and will be updated as I am able.  I would love to hear about any suggestions for routings (quiet but good roads), good places to check out, good restaurants, hotels, etc.

I would avoid the 107 north out of Chiang Mai.

Here are two alternatives on much, much quieter roads that will get you to the 1001, about 35 kms north of your starting point and neither route adds any distance.
