Si Sa Ket introducing market with cultural and spiritual significance

SI SA KET, 4th December 2017 (NNT) – Si Sa Ket province is geared up to open an ASEAN Cultural Market featuring products from both Thailand and its neighbor Cambodia.

Cultural official for Pu Singha district of Si Sa Ket province Boonchu Bud-dah recently led religious and foundation leaders in the province on an inspection of a Pracharat Market being established on the ASEAN Cultural Thailand-Cambodia road, which is to kick off tomorrow.

The spacious market is to feature amenities such as ample parking and clean bathrooms so that it may attract buyers to pick up goods being sold by both Thai vendors and sellers from Cambodia’s Oddar Meanchey province. The market is located in an area overlooking the Panom Dong Rak mountain range, offering visitors a view while they shop.

The intention of the market is to allow sellers from both Thailand and Cambodia to engage in commerce together and to foster cultural exchanges while also boosting income. Goods being put up for sale range from OTOP products to vegetation collected from local forests. There is no rental charge for vendors but they are required to clearly display the price of their goods and to keep the area clean and orderly.

Local religious leaders noted that due to Si Sa Ket’s own spiritual importance in Thailand and Oddar Meanchey’s path to Angkor Wat, a visit to the market also offers visitors the opportunity to go on a spiritual journey.
