He should resign immediately.

He should be sacked immediately; made to explain how he has earned 5 million a year for the last six years on an income of less than 180,000; then jailed.

You could now say your dog deleted your homework

Like many members on TVF, I saw this crap story coming. It was a logical "back door" line to explain his multi million baht showpiece; possibly one of a few showpieces he NOW owns.

I go with #4. Probably a gift from the Chinese for buying those 3 sinking ships (how appropriate!).

Prayut must be some pi**ed with his second in command.

WARRANTY DOCUMENTATION

Please show us the warranty documentation and purchase receipts.

There will be lots of paperwork with a watch like this.

Its funny. The guy is up the creek. But still we will get the news that nothing is wrong here. Just a old man trying to look smart in a photo op that got noticed. But no wrong doing here. All is well.

Apparently you are not aware of the strong bond of the 3 Ps Generals. Prayut, Prawit and Prachinda (Anupong). He ain’t going nowhere neither will he be investigated. That’s the revolting aspect of the power of the Thai military over the state.

Who the hell borrows a watch?

Seriously, is there anyone out there who has ever borrowed a watch from a friend?

A wheelbarrow? Sure. A dinner jacket in an emergency? Sure. A cup of sugar? Sure.

An expensive watch? Not a chance in hell.

Well, judging from his pudgy face, he seems to be in the habit of borrowing sugar rather often - by the sackful.

Taxi for the general.

He probably needs one since according to his assets disclosure his car is only worth 100,000 baht.

Hates to be seen driving it as he loses face . Probably why he wanted to borrow the watch so he can open the window and let his bling arm dangle out to restore some of his wounded pride.

Why bother listening to him.

Get the watch's serial number, the manufacturer can then tell you exactly where & when it was bought.

With this information the receipts for the purchase of the watch will be available.

If it's involving multi-million Baht fraud, (which it could be as not declared on his assets sheet) the above options are available to NACC/law enforcement.

Or would that be too logical ?

'Well it's a funny story, but unfortunately I - my mate happened to mistake it for an empty cornflakes box and put it in the bin just as the binmen showed up. But don't worry, we will charge the binmen under the computer crimes act. Sorry - does anybody have the right time?'

Logical yes but it may reveal corruption in the current administration so best to leave logic alone.

The watch and ring story is only a tool to divert from the real problem. Prawit declared a wealth of 57 million THB in 2008 and 87 million in 2014. How can someone, who is not affiliated with any business and lives of salary and allowances, can accumulate an average increase of wealth of 5 million THB per year over  consecutive six years?

I would be very happy if I can put roughly 12.500 USD aside every single month.

He really is a muppet, pay a handsome sum of money to a jeweler and get a fake made of the ring and the watch (there must be fakes abound on the market anyway) and that is what you show the commision, they aren't real they are fakes, what is all the fuss about. It doesn't have to be the same as the ear medicine taker and his borrowed pink Rolls Royce, be a little more inventive, it gets boring otherwise. You're a politician for Gods sake, lie like a professional.

People in Prawit's position of power are able to accumulate wealth/possessions, as part of junta business concessions, favours, promotions, coercion. In reality the list is endless. Whilst he undoubtedly has the funds to buy such trinkets, people at the very top of the food chain rarely have to.
