An official of the Social Security Office in Din Daeng is facing disciplinary action and criminal charges after he was found to have embezzled money sent by a group of elderly people to the Savings Fund for the Elderly.

 

Deputy labour permanent secretary Mrs Petcharat Sin-ouey said Monday that Labour Minister Adul Saengsingkaew had instructed that all the victims be fully refunded and that the Social Security Office must revamp financial system to plug loopholes so that similar incident must not be repeated.

 

The official whose name was not disclosed allegedly tampered with the money orders supposedly to be given to the Savings Fund contributors, cashed them at postal offices and pocketed the money.
