Good-value sushi in Patong?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi all,

Similar to my “indian cuisine” thread....

Are there any good-value sushi places in Patong, or west coast?

A place with perhaps a japanese chef and/or with perhaps a regular flow of Japanese customers, would probably meet my sushi needs.

Fuji doesn’t quite meet my needs.

That place looks pretty good. Thanks for the tip.

Mostly 5 stars on Trip Advisor, but one funny comment who only gave it 3: "For Fish Lovers ONLY !"

Foie gras sushi are to die for at shun sushi.

Shun is the best but youll pay for it.
Sri Panwa has equal best but youll aldo leave with a light pocket.
Waygu sushi is 500 baht for two small pieces but so delicious.

My comment was a bit tongue and halibut cheek because of the ignorant 3 star comment.

Everyone knows to take any rating site with caution. Like anything on the internet including advertisements from Han-Sha, you have to filter through the BS, approach it 7 different ways and decide for yourself.

Shun Sushi near Index in Town.

Japanese chef with real and very good sushi.

Didn't there used to be a place IN Index as well? Many moons ago but they had a nice buffet at lunch.

Yup Oishi but closed like you said many moons ago.

Yes - it was an Oishi. My understanding is that the people who ran that location closed it, then set out on their own to open the Tori Japanese buffet down the street.

Thanks for all the good ideas folks.

The diamond cliff and shun sushi are now on top of my list of japanese restaurants to try soon.

I prefer how the have japanese chef and/or japanese patrons and focus on preparing japanese food only.

Diamond Cliff hotel has a Japanese restaurant & the last time i visited was populated with only Japanese people (save me & the mrs)

FYI, I tried the Japanese restaurant called Kiko at Diamond Cliff earlier this week.

IMHO Kiko was good quality sushi on par with Shun Sushi, but unfortunately the prices for many items at Kiko were almost double those of Shun Sushi :(((

Thanks for the idea anyway.
