There was an article on phuketgazette . com a couple of weeks ago and it said that of all the girls who were tested at a mobile clinic in Phuket, 80-90% of those tested were in fact HIV positive. Obviously this is very alarming news and if word got out, it would have a tremendous impact on (sex) tourism.

Promptly this article was removed from their website. I have seen no discussion of this topic on this forum or anywhere else. I know that freedom of the press is somewhat limited here and this looks like one instance where that comes in to play.

Go ahead and google HIV & Phuket in google news and you'll see the headline and then it will re-direct you to phuketgazette . com where the article no longer appears.

I have just googled as the OP suggested.

See no such reference to a Phuket Gazette

article.

All the sick puppies are not in the sois.

From google search

"80% of mobile clinic users test HIV-positive

Phuket Gazette, Thailand - Dec 28, 2006

PHUKET: Phuket Governor Niran Kalayanamit has ordered all government agencies to step up the battle against the spread of HIV, after some 80% of people who ..."

I have been told by someone in the health ministry that these figures are to be expected for mobile clinics. These mobile clinics are used by people with relatives who are already HIV positive.

I live here in Phuket and I was told by some Thai Friends that there was a big concern

for young High School Kids who practise unsafe sex, the percentage of HIV is quite high..

I don't frequent the bars and I'm way too old for high school girls, so I think I'm safe..

Yes, and I posted it on Thorn Tree forum but it seems to have disappeared... censorship? hmm.

Check out http://www.barnesworld.blogs.com/ and read the section called:Views from the Mysterious Eastern Front: Who Are the Real Thai Terrorists?

A tidbit to wet your appetite, "The bomb was dropped by Phuket Provincial Health Office HIV/Aids section when they publicized the result from their new mobile HIV test lab initiative. Out of over a hundred people tested 85% were positive. That number is 4 times higher than the incidence of all other STDs put together among the same test subjects."

This says that 85% of the people tested in Patong are HIV+ !! This tells me two things:

1. The testing method isn't accurate (highly likely)

2. It's a bigger problem then imagined

I've been reading a lot about HIV and AIDS and there seems to possibly be a big cover-up by the mainstream medical profession. There is apparently no solid proof that there is a direct connection between HIV and AIDS. The pharma companies are making BILLIONS of dollars on their AIDS meds. There is evidence that the meds actually cause some of the diseases commonly called AIDS! AIDS is not a disease in itself, but a reaction to low CD4 levels, i.e. a very weak immune system.

It all looks suspicious to me. I don't trust the medical profession wherever big $ is concerned.

As mentioned in my earlier post these figures will be high as the mobile clinics are used by high risk people who have family members or partners who are already HIV positive. The figures don’t give an accurate overall population percentage due to the type of patients these clinics target.

My source works for the health department in a different province and deals with mobile clinics and hospital statistics amongst other matters so I trust their advice.
