The head of Pattaya police has said that a foreign man is riding around Pattaya on a motorcycle posing as a Thai policeman.

He targets tourists on motorcycles and orders them to stop before looking in their bags and stealing cash and valuables.

There have been many cases in the Na Jomtien area according to a police appeal for help. And he seems to have an accomplice.

Chief Apichai Krobpetch confirmed Monday that the police were looking for the foreign man who speaks English well.

He said that an arrest warrant was now out and he would not be able to flee the country. In an interview with Siam Chon news he said that he was a pillion on a bike driven by another man.

"We will have him in a couple of days," predicted the chief. "We are on his tail thanks to CCTV".

The chief warned the public that criminal elements might use the busy New Year to break the law preying on tourists in such a manner.

Earlier the Pattaya Police page on Facebook issued a request for help in tracking down the foreigner preying on tourists.

They said that he claimed to be a cop, extorts money and steals from tourists.

He drives around looking for tourist victims then orders them to stop, said the request.

Then he checks credentials such as passport and looks in bags. he removes cash and valuables from bags without the tourists realizing it.

He is on a black and white Yamaha Aerox with no licence plate.

The Chinese seem to be targeted in particular by the smooth talking speaker of English.

Those who know him or his whereabouts were urged to contact Pattaya police investigating - Nathakorn Janlort 088 524 3535 or Janerop Khamman 080 569 0111.

You've got to be having a laugh.

If he does flee the the country, with a pending warrant, he certainly won't be the first !

Warrant with no name?

No need for a name.

They're looking for a Pattaya motorcycle cop that wears a helmet. Should be easy to spot.
