Billion Dollar Plaza (and Others)

I've had a bad day, so I want to moan a bit :o

When Billion $ Plaza was being built, (just by the Tesco Lotus junction), I thought that the buildings/architectural design looked quite nice. Same can be said for the other shophouses being built around that junction.

Now, these tasteful buildings are slowly disappearing behind enormous advertising hoardings for the businesses that have rented the shophouses.

Why on earth do the building companies bother finishing the building exteriors when it's all going to be covered by a hideous advert board??

Go and take a look for yourself - looks like a trashy market area now......

I always thought billion was an eyesore.. Tiny windows and fauz sino portgese style boshed in shop houses.. The whole concept of an outdoor promenade style shopping area seemed unworkable IMO.

pretty soon it will probably have mechanics everywhere and motorbikes with the guts ripped out of them all over the place.

soon to be followed by countless 'billion dollar dogs' living on the shopfronts.

Try getting in there as well. Gonna have to be determined punters to get at those shops.

Well, look at in a relative sort of way! It looked quite nice - compared to all the other hideous buildings being built!

As for trying to get there, I suppose you mean taking your life into your hands if trying to cross the bypass road? Yep, not so easy :o

What I find strange is that it must be sold out. Read on!

When I saw the plans for it about 6-7 years ago, it was stated that the four rows would be built in sequence, with the sales money from the previous phase, funding the next phase. Ie, they only funded the first row and the rest was funded from sales.

So using my logic (not as easy as it once was), I would have thought that as the 4th phase is up, the first three phases must have been sold out? So why does it look empty and derelict?
