Hogwash. You`ve already been proved wrong as the guy in question is 25, fit and healthy. Besides that, I am talking about prostitution in general. This girl is not the first to die plying her trade and she certainly won`t be the last, that`s a fact. Each time they go off with clients, young, middle aged or old,  they are taking huge risks and by the very nature of what they do, very few in society will have any sympathy. Education is the key, because the toll and abuse they expose their bodies to does not make prostitution a viable means to make a living, one way or another, either mentally or physically they will pay a high price.

Do you have any evidence to back this up some statistics perhaps? Whlst i can see that what you say appears to make some sense it is not something i have ever witnessed in all my time in Thailand or Phils or indeed even ever heard a bargirl complain about.

I understand the sentiment, and I'd agree back home.  But from a pragmatic standpoint, what is a tourist going to do to render help?   Call an ambulance?  What's that number, and do they speak English?  First aid?  Does he have training?  I don't.  Not for that kind of tragedy.  Tell someone to call an ambulance?  I suspect that would be redundant in front of a popular hotel in a tourist town.

OTOH, what are his risks of being beaten to death by her friends and family before (or after) the cops get there?  What are the chances he'll receive a fair and impartial trial?  Or, more importantly, what are his perceptions of his chances in a country with a reputation like Thailand's, currently being run by a military junta?

So walk away, that makes it right because a life worth nothing, in a strange country, God forbid we might get locked up, suffice to say, look left and right when you cross the road, and you would be ok with a tourist who just bold you over and not stopping, even though you might have been still alive, even with a 10% chance of making it.

Your digging an even bigger hole mate, like the others

Totally and absolutely agree. Prostitution should be legalised and placed under some kind of controlling authority, regulated, imposed safe health practices and safe environments for these women to ply their trade.

You may be completely over reacting if there is no evidence that the profession is as dangerous as you suggest.

A bar girl wouldn't be stupid enough to have sex near a railing in a country where people jump or are pushed on a regular basis.  2nd, there were reports of an argument, 3rd he ran for.   Like the earlier poster said, he's toast.

I've had plenty of exercise on my balcony, with girls from bars and not from bars... great view!

She didn't die straight away and if that scumbag had made a call for help it might have alleviated some of her suffering at least. Hope he thinks about that in jail

Exactly, any normal person , drunk or not, would check to see if the girl was alive and call the ambulance. Unless he got something to hide. If it was an accident, another explanation could be he was high on drugs and did not want to get tested so he just ran away.

The first time you met them?   I fooled around on the railing of my 33rd floor apartment (by myself) and my not a bar girl gf started screaming.  I was just joking.

Not taken in for questioning but arrested ? They must have some good evidence to link him to the death then !!

Waste of life...

"He said he had taken a bar girl back for sex in the room - they continued their sex on the balcony when she fell."

That evidence sounds fairly good, don't you think?

Not only running without give any assistance to the victim, but moved to another location near by, took a shower and went to the NeXT bar - a Place similar to where it all started - this will not exactly strengthen his case ....

20 hours is a loong time in this setting and gives you the opportunity to think twice to for example consider to turn yourself in before you get arrested...

Im 6ft 4 myself and would find it pretty hard to fall over a balcony not saying that it didn't happen its just hard thing to do. Only plausible excuse is she was actually sitting on top of the balcony. Cant seem no other way apart from that?

It does suprise me the calmness of some people move apartments, get a spa and have a beer. I would of been on the next plane.! Regardless.

This guy is an idiot at best.
I mean, if it was an accident (I'm on the fence as there is no evidence) then he should have at least called for the EMS and then left the country. Who the hell gets into this situation and then just carry on drinking at a different bar in the same town. If he isn't innocent then again, not sure what the hell he's doing drinking as if nothing happened

Why would a 26yo man need to be anywhere near bargirls [prostitutes], and on Viagra too? Poor girl probably refused unreasonable sexual demands and things deteriorated from there,[ it's amazing how fast the 'girlfriend experience' can turn nasty], violence resulted, girl gets thrown off balcony. If this is the case I hope he gets 50years in Bang Kwang.

Why would a Thaivisa member make such a ridiculously speculative comment?

More than likely both had alcohol in their blood...she loses her balance and falls....

unless he has a history with this girl, past violent behavior, the condition the 2 left the bar (from witnesses), the height of the flimsy railing, arrangement of balcony items....

my detective work says accident over suicide as farangs have a monopoly on that one...

if arrested, don't you have to be charged with something? Being held for further questioning would have made more sense; then upon evidence produces formal charges or not...

as someone pointed out, sexual discrimination quite possible; doubt she gets arrested right off the bat had they switched places...

premature speculation by the police and that is wrong....

"...my detective work says accident over suicide as farangs have a monopoly on that one..."

Is that your detective work that consisted of reading the OP that stated what happened?

"premature speculation by the police and that is wrong...."

Gawd...

Au contraire.

Under Thai social norms, he will be able to pay his way out of this as the deceased is a hooker.

I am not suggesting this is right or morally correct, I am simply saying this is how things are done here.

Unless he is convicted of something which is also the way things are done here.

"Au contraire."

Pretentious..?  Moi..?

Running and / or so drunk or doped as to not being capable to comprehend what happened ?
Could have turned himself in next day instead of going to the bar.
Pond life !

Not sure how low the balconies are but there is every possibility that whilst engaging in sexual behaviour one can easily fall backwards off the balcony if he had picked her up and carried her.

He shouldnt have ran but probably new either way he was in deep deep sh7t..

Then he will have missed his window of opportunity.

The original poster said he was doomed, doomed I tell you.
