Never heard of the words "sack", "dismiss" or "fire"?

No, thought not!

How about "arrest", "charge", "try", "convict", "sentence" and "imprison"?

Name any western country where a cop can be summarily fired.  Not easy anyplace, usually involving hearings, arbitration and union contracts.  Eventually, they are usually just allowed to resign with all pension benefits undisturbed and not infrequently, back pay.

If they are suspected of child sex trafficking being fired would be the least of their problems in a country with proper law enforcement.

i can just picture this office full of transferees. Just a load of bent cops sitting around with their feet on the table playing on their phones.

Just like a normal cop shop then!

No, the different is they can't collect Tea Money

Why is it that corrupt or incompetent public servants are transferred to 'an inactive' post? Both should be reduced a considerable way down the ranks and if corrupt, arrested and jailed pending a court appearance!

A viable alternative would be to attach them to the Army and send them all down to the southern provinces (having busted their butts down to the junior ranks) to defend the people against terrorists and other criminals. For a long period of time. :coffee1:

The "transfered to an inactive post" rubbish is so annoyingly opaque and ambiguous. What does that really mean? Maybe told to stay at home, just hang at HQ in the canteen on full pay whilst being mocked for being caught by fellow officers, come sign in and then bail to the soapy for the afternoon and drink Heineken till it blows over and we'll sneak you back in somewhere so things can carry on as per usual. These officers are complicit to the charges. Such complete and utter BS.

..... I have been asking this question many times to myself..... What is an inactive post??? Maybe someone can help and shed some light on this.......

"Maybe in the US. Certainly not in England."
Yes rkidlad, speaking only of the USA, where it seems cops are permitted to execute persons for crimes such as "driving while black", or black children for playing with plastic toy guns.
The latter case really got me. Maybe the gun was mistaken for real, but do you shoot a child even so?
The verdict is much too often that "the officer acted in accordance with department guidelines". A black man, Eric Garner, 45, was choked to death by a cop on Staten Island on July 17, 2014, for allegedly selling individual cigarettes without a license. Cop was let off without penalty.
Numerous cases of unarmed black men shot to death with little or no consequence to the police officers involved.

What would you have done??  Tased the kid??, that would pbly have killed him as well,  I don;t know if I would have shot him.............unless he was actually pointing the gun at me.   pbly would have took the chance and tased him anyway.  The Cigarette seller out weighed both officers and the officer used a choke hold on him to subdue him.   Why did he have to resist, he was only selling cigarettes, he would have got off with a slap on the wrist, but he chose to fight instead.  I was not a cop, but US Army in three wars, I would pull a trigger on any threat in my path so I can sympathize with them.

I've been a member for 12 years and so far no one has an official explanation of what 'an inactive post' is........we can only speculate.  Maybe the Thai Cops should change the term to "Suspended without pay until investigation is over"   but they won't.  Inactive post suits them just fine.

Again a move to the better.

But why they are not sacked and taken to court is beyond me.

Still much to improve

Sacked? Nothing proven yet. In USA cops can shoot a sleeping man 19 times and get paid leave or desk duty until the incident can be "fully investigated" (things simmer down and get swept under the rug).

All these years and this police force does not respect the R that is there in front of Thai Police.

Just shows what persons the population are dealing with.    Sacking is the only way to put the fear of god into some of them.

I certainly would not have choked a man to DEATH for the alleged "crime" of selling a fifty cent cigarette without a license.
So called "choke holds" are specifically against NYC department regulations.
Your attitude is perhaps why police departments should not be recruiting gung ho former or would be military types who seem to be eager to kill people.
"I would pull a trigger on any threat in my path..." There is a place for that, and thanks for your service, but the proper place is not on the streets amongst civilians, it would appear.

Office based

We can all infer that is the case by their title "Inactive Post"  but if they are "In the office" whats to prevent them from interfering with the investigation that got them there  -  Nothing.  They should be

"suspended without pay" if they are suspected (known) of wrongdoing - no wonder the Thais dot have any confidence in the justice system here...........it's non-existent.
