February 1, 20188 yr Anyone know where in Pattaya you can buy degreaser? I'm looking for something like this rather than a spray. Tried Big C Extra, Tesco Suk, MisterDIY, hardware store on corner of Lengkee, nothing so far

February 1, 20188 yr Author why not just use deisle or petrolInteresting idea I've just read a couple of threads on it on some random forum. People were recommending white spirit or paraffin. Diesel or Petrol weren't favourites, I'd worry about a fire breaking out.So follow up question is, if its very difficult to get a degreaser then where can i get white spirit or paraffin?
February 1, 20188 yr Not sure how much you need? Holts Degreaser. Price about 300/400 Baht. This is an aerosol spray, might be too expensive if you need a lot. I use it to degrease a bicycle chain. Big C sell it - well they do in Udon anyway.
February 1, 20188 yr NaOH , Sodium Hydoxide, lye will dissolve grease. See saponification . Brand name Dragon. Caustic soda. At Central , cheap and unlike hydrocarbon solvents, no residue . Mix with water *-
February 2, 20188 yr And for a hydrdocarbon solvent : Lacquer thinner, contains acetone. Sold in hardware , AAA thinner. Less than 100 baht/bottle. Not much residue.
February 2, 20188 yr You need to be careful using caustic soda eye and skin protection should be used. Not sure how it affects aluminum alloys and paintwork !Bare steel would be ok,was used to de-gunk 2 stroke motorbike exhausts.
February 2, 20188 yr Author I tried a couple of motorbike service shops and they had nothing. One said new chain 600 baht. I did in the end find a selection of sprays and one or two foam sprays in Tesco and Big C Extra. I bought D1 from Tesco, only 89 baht so worth a try.
