Truevisions PVR recorder problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a Truevisions PVR and have been really satisfied with it for a number of years. Recently however the screen goes black for a couple of seconds randomly when playing back recordings. Truevisions technicians have been called out twice but have failed to diagnose the problem.

Anyone having similar problems or does anyone have any insight into what might be the problem. Thanks in advance for any input.

Seeing as you're paying them an arm and a leg for the privilege of using their equipment...try calling them and insist that they send you a new/working PVR or else.

Thanks but they have already supplied new box,  did n't solve problem unfortunately.

Is the DVR connected to your TV with HDMI lead ? Try using another lead or old fashioned composite lead if your TV still has them.

Sometimes "interference" on the electric mains supply can cause strange problems like this.

Could be the problem is not really the DVR but the link to or the TV itself.

Hi Johng,  was thinking that the leads might be the problem.  Thanks I'll try changing them.

Try a using a different input socket and different TV as well if possible.

If still no success you could ask them to change the LNB but I doubt its the problem or you would notice blackouts on live as well as recorded material.

Do you live near an airport ? Has a new mobile phone mast gone up nearby recently ?

Hi Johng, thanks for your input.

Changed the leads, still have problem. The problem persists on both our TV s so I assume not a TV problem.

The problem began when they replaced the box and “formatted” the attached hard drive. I am now wondering could the new box be faulty or did the technician somehow disrupt the hard drive.

True are coming again but because it is an intermittent fault, I don’t hold out much hope for a cure.

Thanks again for your help.
