VPN's And Country Shown

Featured Replies

Recently started using a VPN which is part of my online security package.

Noticed something strange, or is it ?

My VPN was set as Germany, the web site I looked at showed my location as Canada !   Canada is listed as an available VPN connection.

Is this normal, something like double routing ?

Any risks ?

What website did you use to check?

I use:

https://www.iplocation.net/

Of course this should not happen.

Germany is not Canada

Thanks for reply.

I wasn't actually trying to check my location, the website was a .org open source but I can't remember what site, will try and recall.

Have just tried the link you gave me and it shows location as UK same as VPN.

Will try others and see if I get two different locations again.

Your right, it shouldn't happen as one may need for the location to be a certain country in order to view the site e.g.Sky News.

I assume there is always a chance that some site uses an erroneous IP location method/service.

Personally I don't remember such a case.
